Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.
Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.
Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.
This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.
A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.
Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Agh, Ian! Your appendix had burst and peritonitis set in by the time you got an appointment! Yes, indeed do rest. Thanks for the good news about your infection levels falling. Sorry I'm a bit behind.
Do only what your body will allow, Ian, & gently at that.
Thanks, Chris. I'm going to try to enjoy some leisure.
Enjoy your days, Ian, I think you can use some rest.
I've been for a check-up today. Blood tests show that infection levels are falling as they should but I'm still very sore. My doctor has read the surgical report and she told me that the team had a real struggle to carry out the procedure with 'keyhole' techniques. No wonder I feel battered. Just a short walk today to visit friends has taken a lot out of me. I think there's almost no chance of me returning to work before my retirement date of 18th Dec.
That sounds wonderful, Randall. There's so much history in that part of the world. I'm not suprised you need a good ajective supply. The noise you hear is me seething with envy.
Goos you're back, Randall! And not infected by the jerusalem-syndrome!
Wow, Ian! Sorry 'bout that. Hope you're up and running by now.
I just returned from a Road Scholar trip to the Middle East, specifically, Israel, Jordan, and Egypt. Saw all the worthwhile sites which was mind boggling and stupendous and many other adjectives. One just has to see it to believe it. ("Ancient Treasures of the Middle East" was the name of the program.) There was a little too much religious "stuff" to see and hear for my liking (as an atheist), but I went with the flow, trying to think historic thoughts.
The people are friendly--too friendly with street venders/hustlers! (in your face) The cities and countryside are filthy dirty with trash and garbage, unfortunately. But, the weather was perfect and the hotels and food were super. Our boat trip down the Nile was fun.
It's good to be back home, however. Hope everybody here at AN is doing well (esp Ian).
That's very risky, Ian! Glad you're getting better!
Glad you're on the mend, Ian!
