Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

AOC Flips the Religious Freedom Argument on Its Head (NowThis)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller on Tuesday. 6 Replies

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez may not be an atheist, but as it comes to the issue of State / Church separation, she has just surprised the daylights out of me (most pleasantly!) with a very powerful statement she has recently made regarding the behavior…Continue

Viruses Don't Watch FoxNews (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Grinning Cat Mar 12. 5 Replies

The above is the kind of headline which would likely send the Orange Nightmare into a royal hissy-fit ... but then, in addition to all the line-items outlined in the following video, viruses don't read, either!  Yes, I'm afraid that, once again,…Continue

#FakeChristians (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Patricia Feb 22. 1 Reply

Once again, America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers finds it necessary to saddle up and call the soi-disant Christians of the current era on their apparent lack of anything resembling behavior that the carpenter-turned-rabbi would find even remotely…Continue

The following is one of TheraminTrees' most thorough-going pieces, wherein he looks at the process and techniques whereby a "religious" organization (which will sound VERY familiar to most of us, once introductions are made!) takes a person who…Continue

I have limited exposure to our quiet little town,  population 2,265. The shops closed and traffic on US-2 through town reduced. Spring work in the greenhouse keeps me physically active. Laura brought in a stationary bike to keep our heart rates active. My Attitude of Gratitude Journal keeps me focused on the positives in life. The little wildlife sanctuary that I see from my west window keeps me entertained. I am quite content. I like rural living.

Pretty quiet here, too, apart from occasional thunderboomers this morning and again now.  My wife was working at home this week, except for yesterday, and next week will likely be much the same.  As for myself, I hang out here, on C|D Backfires and Hemant Mehta's site, and when I'm not doing that, I'm re-binge-watching Babylon 5 ... so I'm doin' okay.

Rather similar in DK, Chris. A lot more people going for walks though, particularly in the woods.

New legislation here will ban assemblies of more than 2 people (families excepted) even in private homes. Police to have the power to enforce this even to the extent of breaking doors down!

Comment by Randall Smith on Saturday

I live out in the "country" (no sidewalks), but I've noticed road traffic is very limited. I've been abiding the regulations. They say police won't stop you just to ask "why?"

Haha!

Comment by Patricia on Friday

The sidewalks get rolled up here in the evenings, & on weekends, so this just feels like constant evenings.

Very quiet here... is it the same where you live?
