Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Evangelicals Unmasked (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Grinning Cat on Tuesday. 4 Replies

After roughly two months of "shelter-in-place," it would seem that evangelical Christians are champing at the bit to get back to their money-making-machines churches, because empty pews mean empty collection plates, which means no moolah in pastors'…Continue

#NeverBiden is the New #MAGA! (Betty Bowers)

Apparently there is a new hashtag out there: #NeverBiden.  Now, I'm not much of a hashtag follower, but it would seem as though America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers IS ... and she's not at all happy with the point of view represented by the…Continue

Thou Shalt Stay the Hell Home! (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Apr 10. 4 Replies

Never let it be said that Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is a scofflaw as it comes to the whole "shelter-in-place" order ... ESPECIALLY when she has such a FABULOUS place to shelter in!  Problem is, she sees way too many other…Continue

Stay at home order

Started by Joan Denoo. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Apr 6. 5 Replies

Not only should the Federal government issue the "Stay at home" order, but all medications should be negotiated through the nation and health care should be provided to all inhabitants, citizens or not. From where will the funding come? From those…Continue

"Ficaria verna, (formerly Ranunculus ficaria L.) commonly known as lesser celandine or pilewort.

"Celandine is an Ingredient in an antiretroviral drug that may act against the Epstein-Barr and herpes viruses. Ukrain, derived from celandine, is available by prescription in Europe but not approved for use in the United States."

Plinius, we are on to the same plant!
Ficaria verna, (formerly Ranunculus ficaria) is a low-growing, hairless perennial flowering plant in the buttercup family, Ranunculaceae, native to Europe and West Asia.
They grew in my back yard in the shade garden, the place I called My Grotto. It wasn't a cave, it was a very shady part of my Spokane garden.

Yes, caution should be the norm for some time yet.

The good news from DK: the infection curve has flattened and may be falling slightly. A few restrictions will be lifted after Easter, many will stay in place for another month, which means cinemas, libraries etc will remain closed and all gatherings of more than 10 people are still banned. Large assemblies are still banned until the end of August.

Ian, I'd say our spring buds and flowers are at the same stage as yours (Indiana). Signs of hope and optimism. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, anemone and celandine together, violets in the second picture.

Here the Latin name; Ficaria verna and I found the English name lesser celandine.

Plinius, I can find nothing in the U.S. or The Netherlands searches about "weaner" except for a famous landscape designer in Pennsylvania, Larry Weaner Landscape Associates.

I also looked under "horticulture" in both languages, as well.

The yellow flower is weaner, says my dictionary.

Comment by Joan Denoo on April 5, 2020 at 11:38pm

Ian, what is the blue flower? It looks a little like periwinkle (Vinca minor).

The yellow flower looks like buttercups     (Ranunculus repens.)

A lovely place to walk and meditate.
