Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Think Goodwill Industries does well by the poor?  Fact is, they do WAY BETTER for themselves, to the point where America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, thinks they're ripping off the christian playbook a bit too well!  Have a look for yourself:…Continue

Let's not define ourselves or others by our worst behaviors

Started by Ruth Anthony-Gardner. Last reply by Dominique Lutz Apr 16. 6 Replies

My take on the recent melt down at Hang With Friends, of which I missed part, is that some of us were tripped up by a habit of thought. It's something we learn growing up, and use without realizing how much pain it can generate -  failing to…Continue

I get The Daily KOS as well, Felaine.  Great updates on what is happening in politics and social issues.

Here's the Wikipedia page for Daily Kos.  It explains the name:

Daily Kos was founded by Markos Moulitsas (Kos from the last syllable of his first name, his nickname while in the military) in 2002.

This is my birthday month and I turn 50 this year.  I honestly can not see myself getting more conservative as I age.  If anything, I've actively been getting more progressive and vocal about it throughout the years.

Ian, I sometimes check it when it's included in The Daily KOS (and I have NO idea what "KOS" is supposed to mean, but I get their daily headlines.  All progressive, all the time.)

I always heard that we're supposed to become more conservative as we age...I seem to be doing the opposite.  I'll be 75 in a few months and I don't give a rat's patoot about who does what to whom, as long as they don't harm each other, or any innocent bystanders.

And I firmly believe in the last line of the last song I posted:

"If we couldn't laugh we would all go insane."

Chris, one of my sons, Craig, and my daughter and her husband are in the computer business. They host through myior.com, laura does some web design, and Larry used to repair computers.

They all very much dislike Microsoft and all its products. PCs failed regardless of which brand. They found they had the fewest calls to repair Apple products and they all now use MacBook Pro, as do I. My first MacBook cost me $400 and was a refurbished one. It lasted me five years and mechanical things began to malfunction, slow keys, slow downloads. So Laura and Larry gave me a new MacBook Pro for this past Yule gift. I think it was about $1,000.

Patricia has a Mac product and she may have some ideas for you to think about.

Any other Mac users out there?

Some months ago there was a discussion about probiotics and several of you named a brand. Can you remind me what it was?
