Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

A Prayer for Our Nation (Betty Bowers)

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.  Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has seen what is going on with the current occupant of the Oval Office, and my impression is that she is not at all happy with it.  True to her citizenship,…Continue

Returned today from Copenhagen. Spent a few hours with my daughter and son-in-law and then an evening at Tivoli enjoying Tony Bennett and Gaga. They were consumate professionals with real style and had a really good band behind them, so the show was a true delight.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zzl8zYz8JDs

Felaine, I hope all goes well for you. My Father had terrible leg pains until he had a balloon down the artery on one side and a bypass on the other. He brightened up a lot afterwards. I'll be thinking of you.

Carl, it sounds like you might sympathise with St. Sebastian.

It appears you're keeping your sense of humor, Felaine, despite your situation. Thinking of you.

Thank you all for your good wishes and concern.

I think this is a result of Pfizer changing their so-called patient assistance program 18 months ago...they discontinued providing Glucotrol XL and other meds to low/no-income patients.  I never could afford a month's worth at the pharmacy's standard rates, and generis isn't that much cheaper..

Medicareless Part D is nothing but corporate welfare, and as you've noticed, I get pissed off at gov't scams easily.  Plus the doctor who took over my case when Dr. (Bad Jokes) Haber retired doesn't seem to give a damn, or her office help is brain damaged.

One of the first things I'm going to ask for is a social worker....

PS: St. Joe's is an excellent hospital, with really caring nurses and LVNs.  They just insist on hanging those gruesome scarecrows on the walls.... and a large mosaic (donated by Delores Hope) of St. Sebastian shot full of arrows.  Oh, joy.

I panicked this afternoon and did NOT call an ambulance.....yet.  There have been so many brush fires and leftover fireworks accidents that I didn't want to interfere with a real emergency.  BUT I have to do something ASAP...my dad went through something like this 30 years ago, was in St. Joe's for weeks having vein grafts and stuff.

I have been paying for ambulance service for 15 or 20 years, and have not needed it till now....so I won't have to shell out big bux.  I'll try to get some sleep, and then call the EMTs when morning drive time is over.

Frankly, I'm terrified.

Felaine, your condition worsened so fast, I knew you were having problems but had no idea it is as bad as it is. What a horrid experience you have. Please, bring us up to date as soon as you are able. I fear the worst as I hope for the best outcome.

Felaine, I am surprised at your reaction to the "down time" of Atheist Nexus. Of course, one can think one is being kicked off the site. It is one explanation. I interpreted it to mean that I had made some mistake with my computer and I had to correct myself. Others could think the site was closed for maintenance. I suppose there are other reasons people could come up with, but I can't think of them just now.

I am really sorry you were under the impression you were kicked off those few hours of down time. The feeling of rejection is a lonely one. No knowing what happened made it even worse, I suspect.

In any event, you and I and the rest of the A/N family continue on the site and can wallow in the joy of belonging to a support system such as this.

Oh dear, Sk8eycat/Felaine!

Thanks for the wonderful wildlife description of your bedroom in Laura's home, Joan.

I know what you mean about blood tests, Flying Atheist. I'm gald you're handling the statins OK. I had an idiot specialist prescribe prescription strength NSAIDs when I was on Lipitor, and got liver problems after 3 months. I was too trusting, and never had the energy to read all of the details about my new med.
