Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Oh, Mindy, kiss her little nose for me!  I love torties!  (And orange tabbies, black cats, and every other color of cat....)

Nice, GC. That is pure, unadulterated truth.

The Republicans are indeed masters of convincing people to vote against their own best interests! VOTING REPUBLICAN - Working man: "I vote Republican to keep Foreigners, Minorities, Women, Socialist, Gays, and Liberals from ruining my life." Fat cat, pointing and laughing at him: "I vote Republican to keep this moron from realizing I'm the only one ruining his life."

Mindy, I LOVE Charlie.  What a cutie.  She's a very fortunate kitty to be moving into such a loving home.

I'm going to finish my coffee, take a shower and then go vote.  I'm prepared for the worst of outcomes (Republican victories) but there have been some glimmers of hope in the past week that upsets may occur in several national races.  I can only wait and see.

What really gets under my skin is that so many of these far-right candidates are so divorced from reality, yet so many dumb-ass people vote for them and put them in office.

Postscript: I also got tired of SUVs full of kids from other neighborhoods coming around for more goodies....and I noticed this year that more than half of our neighbors  also don't turn on their porch lights..

I stoped handing out Trick-or-treat candy about 10 years ago, when very few children (or even grandchildren) lived in our neighborhood, and my back would not tolerate bending over to drop stuff in pillowcases and plastic pumpkins.  Once I stopped doing that, my JW sister decided it was "safe" for her to stay in the house on Oct. 31, instead of sitting in the farthest corner of the back yard and freezing her ass off.

Witlesses are so weird....what's the harm of little kids dressing up like ballerinas, cowboys, or even sheet-covered "ghosts"?

I used to love Halloween, but the people who started the rumors and fears about "tainted treats" ruined it for everyone.  Before I stopped handing out treats altogether, I went from homemade cookies (which people stopped accepting) to wrapped candies without chocolate just because everything chocolate gets boring after a while.

Also, it's far from a sure thing that Republicans might take the Senate:

Expect the Unexpected: 5 U.S. Senate Races Where the National Media Is Probably Misreading Polls

If you live in [Iowa, Colorado, Georgia, Louisiana, or North Carolina], your vote really counts.

Mindy, the "two sides to an argument" graphic is a keeper; thanks! And it's great that Charlie is getting a wonderful home!

Cute kitten.  She looks wary, but I'm sure you'll give her a good home.
