Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Donald R Barbera Sep 27. 5 Replies

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

A Prayer for Our Nation (Betty Bowers)

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.  Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has seen what is going on with the current occupant of the Oval Office, and my impression is that she is not at all happy with it.  True to her citizenship,…Continue

Yes, Kathy, it's been pretty chilly here the past few days.  It has warmed up to 26 right now.  Yesterday was in the teens and windy.  One of those "raw" winter days.

I've basically been a hermit and stayed in the warmth of my apartment.  Of course, I'm recovering from the flu.  It hit me bad for about two days but then I was feeling better by leaps and bounds every day.  It's obvious that getting a flu shot has dramatically affected the length and severity.  I'm glad for that!

Well, folks.  We all appear to have survived the big holiday season.  Hopefully we can relax and enjoy some needed down time.  Let's see........what's next?  Oh, yeah, Easter!  LOL

Carl, that sounds so ... special. What a way to get an introduction to a city. I have never been to Paris, although I did do some research in rural towns very close. I talked to women about their lives, personal and professional then compared and contrasted their lives with women's lives in other countries.

Joan, I liked the clip.

Visiting France would be fun if spoken French and written French weren't at war with each other.

That's a great video, Joan.  I've been to Paris only once.  What a stunningly beautiful city.  And Woody Allen is a master at showcasing the visual beauty of urban living.  Just look at his images of New York in his countless films.  And then to watch them with the classiest of classy jazz playing in the background.  I will always remember my first face-to-face sight of Paris.  Arriving underground on the subway, proceeding up the escalator to the sidewalk and emerging into the sunlight across the street from the Arc de Triomphe.

I like the undersea rescue float, especially the purple octopus.

I decided to watch some of the Rose Parade after you reminded me Mindy.  Thought the balloons coming out of the hippos mouth was neat.  I guess they are representing bubbles.

The gardening float was good also.

Too far out to keep to myself: This morning, I looked at my watch at exactly eleven minutes and eleven seconds after eleven o'clock. That made is 11:11'11", 1/1/'15!  Gee, I wish I'd done it 4 years ago. (and there's a comment from Spud "11 minutes ago")
