Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?

Today, I heard Seth Andrews talk about the question, "If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be?"  My first thought was religion, but after a few seconds I decided it would be irrational or anti-scientific thinking.  That would take…Continue

Beautiful picture, Loren. I'm so glad the weekend is over. There was a local festival - it means there was loud music from Friday till Sunday into the nights, drunken singing mobs, etc. We did a lot of odd jobs for our two wards, and today I can start on my own work. But it's quiet now! :-D

Loren, we've had some beautiful Indian Summer sunsets here lately as well.

My wife and I went to her high school reunion last night, and in the process of that event, I managed to catch this:

Mindy, call the vet NOW!  (If you haven't already.)  Did she check his mouth, teeth, and throat when you took him in for the exam earlier this week?

This is sounding seriouser and seriouser.....

Thinking of you and Dale, Mindy

I will be thinking kind thoughts, and hoping it's treatable.

IMO you have to do everything you can to help Dale.  13 1/2 is quite young for a cat these days, so you so need to find out what the problem is, IF it can be treated, and go from there.  Find out if he needs a special diet, etc.

I wish I could afford to give my cats raw meat...I mean, they did NOT evolve in the wild eating kibble.  BUT Pumpkin and Black Beauty both grew up in catteries, and won't even taste raw chicken, they just sniff it and then try to cover it up.  I am NOT going to go out hunting for lizards and rodents for them....

(I used to have a tortie who tried to help with the grocery expenses; she'd go outside, kill a rodent, and leave the body by the kitchen door.  Freaked my sister out, but I just praised her, and told her what a mighty hunter she was.  She seemed to understand.

I don't let my cats go outside at all anymore, too many hungry coyotes roaming around....

My sympathies, Mindy. I hope the tests give some clarity.

Hugs to you, Mindy, and scritches to Dale if he'll have them... you're doing what you can so he'll have the best quality of life possible.

Comment by Joan Denoo on September 25, 2014 at 12:54pm

Mindy, of course you want to know what the problems are and the prognosis! It will depend on Dale's age and comfort level in order to make decisions.
I am so very, very, grateful for the diagnostic work that can be done on animals and humans.
How is Dale acting at home now?
