Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Sep 26. 2 Replies

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

A Prayer for Our Nation (Betty Bowers)

I'm going to keep this one short and sweet.  Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has seen what is going on with the current occupant of the Oval Office, and my impression is that she is not at all happy with it.  True to her citizenship,…Continue

I was able to meet my one year old granddaughter for the first time yesterday. She took to me immediately. It was wonderful seeing my son and second daughter who flew in from Calif.. It's been two and a half years. Going golfing with son Darin today (he's 31, Laura 39). My oldest daughter is arriving tomorrow.

I'll try to find time to vote Tues., not that there's anything worth voting for. Indiana has no senate or governor races. No TV ads which is good! I'm still tired of hearing about all the races in other states. It's not going to make a whit of difference as to which party controls the Senate. In my "old age", I've become quite cynical and less interested. I've learned politics is cyclical and will be the "same ol', same ol' continuence.

Noting the absence of Patricia, I'll say that I have a list sitting by the computer informing my "next of kin" to email them when I "go missing". A/N is on the list, but it doesn't include groups. I'll rectify that.

I'm still "fighting" my cell phone, Felaine. Like how do I change the time now that DST has ended? I thought it was automatic. Not.  I woke up at the regular time this morning, so I have an extra hour of "play time" (and fixed pancakes).

A help sign that works better is a sign that you change every day as long as you need no help. Could be flags or cards in the window, e.g. card 2 on even days and card 1 on odd days. Now you only need a neighbour who'll check the sign every day....

I'd love to send you a cellphone, Felaine, but I have no idea if a European cellphone works over there.

I can't imagine being out on a surf board in that weather. Well, the fact is, I wouldn't be on the board in 75 degrees in Hawaii. I don't get a big thrill out of adrenaline charges.

Thanks Carl. I hope I am not too pedantic. I love life, and I want to know what is going on.

Good health, dear friend. Take care.

Yes, Joan, on Halloween we had very strong winds and big waves that crashed ashore.  It's been all over the national news which is rather ridiculous because that kind of weather event is commonplace here.  I don't know why the media is making such a huge deal about it.  The lakefront bike and jogging path has been closed and parts of Lake Shore Drive is flooded with water but is still open to traffic.  This is nothing out of the ordinary, as it happens several times a year, be it with rain or snow.  We've always had days like this.

P.S.  I don't see you as a negative person either, Joan.  Quite the opposite.  In fact you are an inspiration to me.

Wow, those are monstrous waves. You folks must be getting smashed! How are you holding up?

Ian, you are a genius! This is splendid. Worthy of a post on Facebooks. Do you want me to attribute it to you or do you want to be anonymous? I fell in love with Denmark when I was there. Now, I know where I want to retire from retirement.

Nice one, Felaine.

I never imagined you as wanting to take the ticket out. Howl with laughter, yes: spit and scratch, yes, but not that. Hope the dark clouds get blown away.
