Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

I literally just discovered Dr. Elliott Ingersol yesterday, as a part of a discussion I had with other members of the Northern Ohio Freethought Society.  Dr. Ingersol is a licensed psychologist and clinical counselor in Ohio, as well as a professor…Continue

maggie and milly and molly and may (Edward Estlin Cummings & Eric Whitacre)

It's amazing what you discover when you go looking for something you had no idea you'd find.  On an impulse, I pulled up Eric Whitacre's website to see if he had created any new pieces.  It would seem that he has: a song cycle called The City and…Continue

Have you noticed that much of the discussion in families and with friends, in the print media, on TV, and now on the internet is in the Passive Voice? Many people whine, complain, gripe, accuse, blame, call names, ridicule, grumble, bitch, rebuke,…Continue

Something Beautiful – Nathan Phelps & Seth Andrews

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller Nov 10. 7 Replies

And it is beautiful, too, indeed, I think some of Seth Andrews' best work.  Interesting point: rather than Seth's dulcet baritone doing the narration, this piece presses Nathan Phelps' deep bass intonation into service, bringing a different flavor…Continue

Loren, as usual, you hit the nail where it should be hit in the poster "In god you trust".

Loren, "Spinning Home" is as lovely as only Thunderf00t can make it. He inspires and informs at the same time. There are times I want to put a rag in his mouth, but not with work such as this.

Chris, I enjoy your posts so much, even as I understand you have a full schedule. So I look forward to whatever, whenever you post something. Oh, by the way, these are troubled times ... therefore we have to create islands of peace into each day.

Felaine, I also hate "daylight savings time" and will sign.

Love it Loren.

Succinct and to the point ... and should I mention that most of us have already decided for ourselves?

sk8eycat I hate daylight savings time too! Will sign that.

Anybody else hate Daylight Savings Time?  Sign Here:

They need a million signatures...from all over the world The  petition was started by a Canadian; I remember how ghastly DST is in the northern latitudes.

My first summer with HOI, we rehearsed in Minot ND, and it was daylight, or twilight, till nearly midnight. We had to get up at 6AM to have time to shower and have breakfast [in a smallish hotel] to get to the arena on time, and then spend the next 8+ hours skating our bunz off.  How the *bleep* can a person get enough sleep under those conditions?

YES! Kill DST!  Only Arizona has any sense; they ignore it.
