Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Bible Belt Atheist (New York Times)

The following showed up in my YouTube feed this morning, and I decided to have a look.  Turns out, the New York Times has given us a reasonably even-handed look at a good friend of ours, being one Jerry DeWitt, former bible-thumper and now a pretty…Continue

How would you respond?

So, this morning, I was at my local coffee shop as I am most weekdays between bus runs. I do the editing on my husband's books so I had my laptop with me. My wallpaper is a picture I found online sometime back of a double helix with the word atheist…Continue

The Fake Christian Busybody Show (Andrew Bradley)

Oh, NO!  The gun debate has gotten so heated that it has Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, TALKING TO HERSELF!  Apparently, one of her has had a stroke or a serious breakdown in cognitive skills, as she does little more than parrot the NRA's…Continue

how dogma pollutes discourse (qualiasoup & theramintrees)

Felaine, love the Egyptian cat! Kind of like mehitabel in

mehitabel was once cleopatra

by Don Marquis, in “archy and mehitabel,” 1927

".... she and
i have been talking it over in a
friendly way who were you
mehitabel i asked her i was
cleopatra once she said well i said i
suppose you lived in a palace you bet
she said and what lovely fish dinners
we used to have and licked her chops"

Felaine, I don't understand "worship" either. I do have a sense of wonder, of gratitude for being alive with all my sense, and strong feelings of care, compassion, and empathy toward others, as well as I have a powerful sense of well being when those attributes come to me from others. I especially feel a sense of awe when I realize I am not a victim, or helpless, or hopeless. I have all that I need to face any challenge, even when I fail to accomplish a goal. When that sense of being resilient occurs and when I understand that what is, is (Thanks Daniel, for that bit of  wisdom).

I don't worship a damned thing ... but I appreciate my wife, my friends and my cats ... a LOT.

If I were to ever worship anything, It would be cats...and/or the ocean.

I just don't understand "worship" at all.

Very odd, Joan.  I just checked with both Firefox and IE and I get essentially the same thing in both cases.

Curiouser and curiouser, quoth Alice...

Loren, I don't get the same image as you when I use CosmosonTV.

I wonder if it is my computer?

That is One Fine Kitty, Chris!  I'll keep the weight factor in mind!  :)

Okay, check that.  Replies are working; Comments are not.  Again, I'd appreciate a confirmation, if you can, indeed, confirm what I'm seeing.
