Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Yasmine Mohammed is not your average ex-Muslim.  Not only did she get shut of Islam, she also managed to escape what was at one time the most notorious of radical Islamist organizations: Al Qaeda.  She has since documented the story of her apostasy…Continue

Degrees of Doubt: The Claims and Credentials of Ravi Zacharias (The Thinking Atheist)

Anyone here ever run onto an apologist by the name of Ravi Zacharias?  I've seen his name dropped multiple times on YouTube as supposedly being THE ONE APOLOGIST that no atheist wants to cross swords with, because of his facility with christian…Continue

Enjoy your golf, Randall. I'm told that a round equals a 10km/6 mile walk.

Chris, enjoy the break. It's school holidays here too and therefore the week to avoid museums, cinemas and the like if you're not a parent.

Trump: words fail me.

I'm having trouble typing because my fingers are sore. In a moment of 'live-the-boyhood-dream madness, I bought a beginner bass guitar set. I can now plink and plunk my way through a simplifed version of 'Louie Louie'! There are blisters on the way but I'm enjoying every minute.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS8Fn2gaGpM

Seize the three days of Summer! Golf-away!

No argument, Qiana.  There are a thousand dogs I'd rather have around than Drumpf!

Comment by Loren Miller on October 17, 2016 at 6:16pm

It occurred to me that there was something that Drumpf took after, considering the recent news, but that in this particular case, said behavior was far more tolerable:

Have to say, though, I suspect THIS guy is likely to be far more welcome than the human orangutan!

OK, I ask that question and found that the wind moves the ball a lot more than I thought.  Here's the first place I found that takes about it:

Randy, how much does a strong wind move the golf ball?  I would think not much because it's heavy, but it probably moves it some.

Good afternoon! I did some lazy shopping and cleaning this morning, because this week is autumn holiday - no teaching! So I'm going to spend some time on old chores and relax.

Good Monday morning. It's a windy but near record breaking warm day forecast. Golf is in the plans. There won't be many more nice days left. Seize the day.

I'm glad Cary has someone he wants to talk to! So talk to us Joan, we want to know how you feel. And send you hugs.

Comment by Joan Denoo on October 14, 2016 at 12:59pm

Randy, I would stop reading and responding to computer discussions, however, Cary wants to be alone. He doesn't want anyone to come and say their "goodbyes" and he doesn't want me asking him how he slept, or how is his pain level, or any reference to his condition. He discusses all these things with Laura and she is a very special source for him.

I do make broths and finely sieved vegetable soups for Cary and I end up eating them when the jar remains untouched for several days. I must say, I am growing fond of my soups, sieved or not.

I come to the computer for comfort. Thank you for thinking of Cary and me. I value your care for us.
