Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

I guess I'm really out of it...tried both FlakeBook and, much later, Twitter, and got the hell out of both of them after a week of each.  I found them a waste of my not very valuable time.

I lost all hope when the Toilet Paper People gained majorities in both the House and the Senate in November.  It was a "Charlie Brown moment:"  We're doomed

Joan, the progress (if you can call it that) of the stenosis has been going so slowly that I really don't notice it often.  I do know I can't get up off the floor as easily as I used to.  I have to grab a chair to lever myself up; I used to be able to just pop up...but age may have something to do with that, too.  And loss of muscles that I didn't use during the 20 years that I gritted my teeth and put up with the 24/7 sciatic pain.

I used to go to a gym, ages ago, but I hated every second of it. If I could still feel my toes, I would go back to ballet exercises.  I loved THAT.

Spud, I love you cartoon "Science/ Religion". It goes into my album and sharing.

Patricia, It is hard to believe a mother or an adult would smile on such an occasion. What is the old saying, "You can't legislate morality!"  or common sense.

Felaine, fusion implies loss of motion. Do you have loss of motion after the spinal laminectomy & fusion and does it bother you? Thankfully, you have pain relief. The Google images for stenosis look like bad news! These must surely reduce your quality of life.

Does exercise hurt or help these conditions?

Patricia, where did that photo come from?  I mean, is that someone in your family, or an anonymous photo posted on the net?

If that baby is chewing on a real firearm, maybe the gun-worshippers can become self-limiting with enough time and ammo.

Patricia, I am always shocked at the mindset of the gun-culture crowd.  Their fascination and giddiness about lethal weapons is downright disturbing.

Joan, I had severe sciatic pain for more than 20 years after a fall when I was trying to get back into skating just for fun.  At that time, surgery prognosis was 50-50, so I delayed and denied, and kept working at the Cat Hotel till one night my legs just gave out while I was climbing the stairs, and I had to yell for help.

I had MRIs and CT scans, and finally, in 2009, I had a spinal laminectomy & fusion....instant relief!  Forever.

BUT I still have problems with my neck...it's crooked, and the spinal canal is slowly closing in on the nerve (stenosis)...I have 50% normal feeling in my hands, and I am just waiting for the "final pinch" when I can stop breathing.  That's why I have "DNR" on my MedicAlert bracelet.

Plus....diabetic neuropathy in my feet and lower legs.  I am just effing tired of it all.  Today.  Tomorrow might be different.

Spud, Spokane supplies tubs for recyclables. That worked for a couple of years and now they have recycle bins where all recyclables go with no sorting. They look the same as regular trash bins except they have a different color.

When we lived at Ft. Hood, my Cub Scout group got 5-gallon barrels at the Motor Pool, painted and labelled them "Paper", Glass", "Cans" and used them for each Cub members' family. That idea caught on and we started making them for other families for a small fee to pay for the paint and any costs we had.
