Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

10 Tricks from 46 (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Nov 6. 3 Replies

Apparently, Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has been slumming.  That is to say, she's been talking to Mike Pence [gasp!].  It would seem as though Mike has offered some of his not-so-personal tricks of the trade on how to be a 21st century…Continue

Speak English? YOU FIRST! (Betty Bowers)

Honestly, the title to this piece is badly under-representative of the content.  To be far more accurate, what we have here is Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, going on a rant.  Before you say it ... Say WHAAAA?  Betty Bowers ranting? …Continue

10 Things About Patriotism (Betty Bowers)

It seems as though lately, Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is evolving into America's Best Patriot.  She has recently been taking some fairly well-aimed shots at a certain Orange Nightmare and his sycophantic hangers-on, regarding the…Continue

Today I received a free energy saving package from my electric company.  In it was a 5 minute shower timer, a digital thermometer  for checking water and refrigerator temperature, an LED night light, and 9 LED light bulbs rated for 22.8 years.

A chill just ran down my spine as I read the State Dept.'s report on labor struggles. If the U.S. State Dept. wrote such a report, what will reports reveal under the influence of tRump and his State Dept.?

"the day will come when our silence will be more powerful than the voices you strangle today."

~ Spies shouted, as he was hung for participation in the Haymarket RiotThe efforts by workers for better working conditions in the 1880s provides a rich history of labor's struggle.

"The life of a 19th-century American industrial worker was far from easy. Even in good times wages were low, hours long and working conditions hazardous. Little of the wealth which the growth of the nation had generated went to its workers. The situation was worse for women and children, who made up a high percentage of the work force in some industries and often received but a fraction of the wages a man could earn. Periodic economic crises swept the nation, further eroding industrial wages and producing high levels of unemployment."

Joan,

American workers can't compete with countries that don't have  Occupational Safety and Health  (OSHA), or environmental laws.

Trump apparently thinks he's going to create jobs by eliminating safety regulations.

Eventually American workers will be paid the same as those in third world countries.

I agree with your thoughts on Prison reform Joan.

For Profit Prisons want harsh prison terms to fill their beds.

What's seen on the crime scene TV shows doesn't represent the reality that the FBI and other crime lable are sometimes corrupt.

A prisoner challenging this on appeal was denied a new trial because  (according to the piece of shit judge)  there is no evidence she messed with your drug tests.

Message replies from AtheistNexus are from "Jaqueline Sarah Homan."

How do I contact Brother Richard to get this fixed?

Does anyone else receive messages/emails from AtheistNexus with another name?

Doing some field work today, so I won't be as active around here as I usually am. Might see you in the evening, though.

Ian, thanks for posting that interesting video.  I've not heard that song before.  The Haymarket Riot which occurred in Chicago in 1886 and is commemorated on May 1 is one of the major defining events of the labor movement.  At that time they were fighting for an eight hour work day.

There seems to prevail the opinion in some quarters that this meeting has been called for the purpose of inaugurating a riot, hence these warlike preparations on the part of so-called 'law and order.' However, let me tell you at the beginning that this meeting has not been called for any such purpose. The object of this meeting is to explain the general situation of the eight-hour movement and to throw light upon various incidents in connection with it. -- August Spies
