Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Think Goodwill Industries does well by the poor?  Fact is, they do WAY BETTER for themselves, to the point where America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, thinks they're ripping off the christian playbook a bit too well!  Have a look for yourself:…Continue

Let's not define ourselves or others by our worst behaviors

Started by Ruth Anthony-Gardner. Last reply by Dominique Lutz Apr 16. 6 Replies

My take on the recent melt down at Hang With Friends, of which I missed part, is that some of us were tripped up by a habit of thought. It's something we learn growing up, and use without realizing how much pain it can generate -  failing to…Continue

Joan, thanks for posting the saxophone quartet.  It brings back tons of memories of my college days.  I spent five years as part of a saxophone quartet.  Most often I was the soprano player.

Phillip Glass brings back lots of memories as well.  I was first introduced to his music by his famous Songs From Liquid Days album which I fell in love with and still play today.  I also had the privilege of seeing him perform live as part of a subscription music series at my college's fine arts auditorium.  His music is very mesmerizing and surreal......and yes, unmistakable.  As a musician I've never actually played any of his music, but I know it's difficult due to the riff repetition, the constant changing meter and the counter-syncopation.

I'm also a fan of the Kronos String Quartet.  Phillip Glass has written much music for them and they have collaborated on many projects.  Kronos plays on the above-mentioned album, Songs From Liquid Days.

From one of my cousins:

Watch what happens when you LEFT  CLICK ON EACH PICTURE.... HOLD IT AND DRAG YOUR MOUSE GENTLY FROM LEFT TO RIGHT  ON THE ORIGINAL PHOTOS AND IT WILL BECOME THE EXACT SAME LOCATION TODAY ... 70  YEARS LATER.

Chris, a wonderful group hug and Yuletide greeting!

Felaine, a great idea to include those "Down Under".

Carl, very seasonal images to get in the mood for the season.

Patricia, such beautiful winter scenes! We have no snow either.

Rick, your train and tracks just amaze me. What a wonderful way to spend time. Thanks for sharing.

To all my Atheist Nexus friends, a very happy Winter Solstice! The Wheel of the Year has started a new turn. So happy to be alive, breathing and participating in celebrating the shortest day of the year.

I'm on my way to Laura's for the week. Joy, peace and love to all.

First day of the winter. Hugs to all of you!

And I love the text on the solstice, Carl, thanks!

Minimal music on saxophone sounds fantastic with my first cup of coffee, thanks Joan.
