Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

So, this morning, I was at my local coffee shop as I am most weekdays between bus runs. I do the editing on my husband's books so I had my laptop with me. My wallpaper is a picture I found online sometime back of a double helix with the word atheist…Continue

Men who challenge men to stop violence

Started by Joan Denoo. Last reply by Grinning Cat on Friday. 21 Replies

Many men join in the effort to reduce violence against women and children and other men. He speaks of the need to place responsibility on men instead of focusing on women to stop violence. He offers a breath of fresh air, as do so many of the men on…Continue

What are their options? The aquifer that provided a necessary element for successful crops for the past 100 years is predicted to dry up in 20 years. Four generations of farmers in one family may probably not be able to last for the fifth…Continue

Evangelicals Breaking Up with Jesus (Betty Bowers)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller Apr 28. 5 Replies

Has evangelical Christianity lost sight of Christ?  Seems to me that there are a whole lot of evangelical Christians who are presuming to represent Jesus by not representing him or misrepresenting him or – let's be honest here – talking out of their…Continue

The following showed up this morning in my YouTube daily feed, and I have to say, it just charmed the socks off of me.  This is what animation really can do in the hands of a creative and skilled team.  Really, it's what animation has done for darn…Continue

I saw that clip last night and could not stop laughing.....after I picked my jaw off the floor!  Does he think that if he believes hard enough, other people will, too??

Susi, I looked for David, too, but too many too choose from  lol

yeah, i saw that one, too. the sad part is that the sheep won't even question it because they just rewrite history. what is your facebook link, lots of david webb's.

David - I saw that video earlier (I check in to Pharyngula several times a day), and it blew me away. Our founding fathers already debated creationism? Where do these people come from???

A Facebook friend of mine posted this. Amazing. All of my friends here are welcome to add me on Facebook. I am still heavily outnumbered by my deist friends :)

I have taught many different ages from 3rd grade to college, I really like teaching 5 th grade best.

Thank y'all for the welcome messages.

Thanks for the invite to the group.  I look forward to getting to know all of you.  In the past atheism was not something celebrated or discussed.  If one was "plagued" with this dysfunction, it was kept quite.  Closet doors open and light floods in, how nice.

I'm glad no fundies got raptured (to my knowledge, anyhow.)  They are grist for my sneering, mocking mill, and without sneering and mocking, I have no personality at all.
