Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Hello all,I'm new here, and so hope this isn't old hat. But, I just had to point you toward a marvelous poem by William Blake in case you've never read it. Despite his sometimes heavily tinged biblical references in his other art and poetry, this…Continue

Doubtless most if not all of you have heard about that sorry piece of cinema known as God's Not Dead, and perhaps its sequel, cleverly entitled: God's Not Dead 2 (wow, how original!).  Personally, I have wasted neither time nor money on either,…Continue

I'm with you Mindy.

Just checking in.  I've been feeling really "out of it" lately.  My energy level is very low and I'm very tired.  Despite my tiredness, I've been suffering from terrible insomnia.  My doctor just prescribed a sleep aid this week, so the last two nights I've been able to sleep soundly.  I'm on three high-blood pressure medications but my blood pressure readings are still sky high.

This has been a busy week with two doctor appointments plus a face to face interview with the Social Security Administration regarding benefits.

This coming Monday, the 8th, I'm having umbilical hernia surgery.  The kidney transplant team wanted me to have this completed before having my kidney transplant.  The surgery will be done Monday afternoon and I'll be released from the hospital that evening barring any unforeseen circumstances.  It's not very invasive but still, I'll be under general anesthesia and have about a two week recovery period.

I have kept up with all the goings-on here but quite honestly I haven't had the energy to be more active and engaged.  I miss my usual interaction.

Cheers to all of you, my friends!

The second article of mormon faith says " We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.  That seems contradictory to why they think innocent children have to suffer.

Comment by Idaho Spud on December 5, 2014 at 2:22pm

On second thought, if I remember right, the mormon response is, the child has done nothing, but his society has displeased god, so he must suffer, and those that caused it will have to suffer in the next life (or something like that).

A better thing to say, is why would I want to worship a being that is so heartless as to make innocent children suffer for something others have done or not done?

I have a great temptation to send that to my mormon family, asking what has that poor child done to displease god?

Oh, that's a horrible picture Patricia, but it does make a good point.

Good for you, Ian, driving lessons! And I hope your future tests will bring good news!

Comment by Ian Mason on December 5, 2014 at 1:18am

Hello dear friends. I got back from England a couple of days ago. Had a very pleasant time with family although age and illness are wearing some of them down.

Tuesday I began taking driving lessons. Theory only for the first sessions but I will get behind a wheel for the first time ever on the 16th Dec.

Before going away I had a routine blood test taken for prostate cancer and it came back as slightly suspicious. Antigen level 3.9. A repeat test this week showed antigen 3.5, which is in the right direction as normal for my age should be 3.0. My doctor says that there could be a dozen reasons for this but that she wants to err on the side of caution so a new test in two weeks time. I'm not particularly worried. I think I might just be a bit "abnormal".

I don't mind the glasses - I have glasses with prisms to prevent one of my eyes going stargazing all the time, but what I'd hate to pass on is the chronic tiredness and the stress disorder. I'm glad I never had children.

But you two have serious eye problems! It must be difficult for you to read and write on the pc.
