Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

The myth of religions

Started by Joan Denoo. Last reply by Joan Denoo Feb 16. 3 Replies

The creation myth of civilizations instructs men to dominate, to conquer, to go forth and multiply. No reasonable person would pay attention to such a god. No hunter-gatherer receives such a senseless message from wise elders. However, that idea…Continue

10 Tricks from 46 (Betty Bowers)

Apparently, Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, has been slumming.  That is to say, she's been talking to Mike Pence [gasp!].  It would seem as though Mike has offered some of his not-so-personal tricks of the trade on how to be a 21st century…Continue

Daniel, your sun tunnels bring so much sparkle to your lovely kitchen and dining are. I can see why you spend much of your time there. I remember when you sent the photo of this area pulled down to the bare bones, and you redesigned the whole place. It looks Smashing!

Damn, Carl!  Good to see you back.  Get well and STAY well!

Sorry to hear that, Carl but good to know that you're still going strong. I know from previous work experience that people can experience minor strokes and then have no trouble at all afterwards if reasonable precautions are taken. I hope your medication has the desired effect.

Good to hear about Dot, Randall.

Ouch! That's scary news, Flying Atheist. I have a home BP test machine, but often forget to use it. Do you check your own BP? Are you on a low salt diet? so many foods have hidden sodium, like bagels.

Carl, that's good news; I hope things stay that way for many decades -- no signs of impairment, and carrying on with a full life! What Chris and Joan said!

Carl, bummer! The good news, you "feel fine ...  and have no signs of physical impairment".

That's quite something, Carl! I hope you can get the blood pressure down and keep a good mood!

Hi, all.  I came home from the hospital yesterday.  Went in Sunday by ambulance.  MRI shows I had a small stroke.  They kept me for a few days because my blood pressure was sky high.  Have a new drug now to hopefully keep it lower.  I'm actually doing well and feeling fine.  I'm lucky to have no signs of physical impairment.  The whole episode is quite disturbing to say the least, but I carry on!

Randy, very good news, indeed! Thankfully, the farmer was sensible and compassionate. He was kind. Laura's neighbor shoots dogs that come onto his place. Thankfully, Dominic does not roam.

Comment by Randall Smith on June 16, 2016 at 6:11am

Joan, dog Dot was found by me safely caged up by some farmer. My phone number on her collar was undecipherable, so he went on Facebook and the Humane Society website to put out the word. I didn't think to look there. But all's well that ends well. Dot's doing fine, despite the heat. Thanks for asking.
