Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Let's not define ourselves or others by our worst behaviors

My take on the recent melt down at Hang With Friends, of which I missed part, is that some of us were tripped up by a habit of thought. It's something we learn growing up, and use without realizing how much pain it can generate -  failing to…Continue

Cute, however, some of those pets didn't seem very relaxed.  That one dog must have been chasing a rabbit.

I don't Carl, it's what I get from being too busy - I can't concentrate and express myself precisely enough. Still struggling to do the necessary organising for our two grown-up children.

Chris, I hope you don't think that I am the person who created the "500 Years of Female Portraits" video.  That's the wonderful artistic handiwork of some other person.  I cannot take credit for it.  I'm just passing it along.

I did, however, get the inspiration yesterday to compose the quote about music and art that I posted after watching that video once again.  If I may pat myself on the back, I thought it was good.  lol

Hi, Mindy.  Yes, you may use my quote!  I'm sure your daughter will have fun dog sitting.  When I was in high school I would dog sit occasionally for a family who lived down the street.  They had two dogs who were ecstatic to see me when I arrived to check up on them and feed them.  They were so appreciative and loving.  I used to also babysit for the two children that lived there, so the dogs knew me well.

Randall, I whole-heartily agree with you about Django Reinhardt.  He's one of the icons of jazz guitar.

I'm not familiar with this Tina you all are raving about. But, if you want to hear somebody that can blow everybody out of the water, that would be Django Reinhardt. And he did it with missing fingers on his chord making hand! I'm a jazz fan.

Thanks Carl, the portraits are wonderful! Make up some more things, I wonder what comes up! I was thinking on this oldie, and it fits your description exactly http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3CHi_9sxj0

If there is an entity in existence that truly is the human soul, it's music and art.  --Me  (I just made that up!)

Speaking of the Bach cello suites, I know I've posted this before but it's been awhile and it's so beautiful and worth repeating.  Now that I think about it, I wish I had remembered this for the recent International Women's Day.
