Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

So, this morning, I was at my local coffee shop as I am most weekdays between bus runs. I do the editing on my husband's books so I had my laptop with me. My wallpaper is a picture I found online sometime back of a double helix with the word atheist…Continue

The Fake Christian Busybody Show (Andrew Bradley)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Plinius Apr 9. 1 Reply

It seems as though there was a Gay Pride parade in some town somewhere and a Christian commentator, herein known as The Activist Mommy, apparently got her panties so in a bunch about it that she had to fire up her video camera and record a…Continue

America Held Hostage: Day 436 (MisterDeity)

Now that Sinclair Broadcasting has stated their position regarding fake news and its threat to our democracy, Mister Deity's Brian Dalton has decided to throw his $0.02 worth in as well ... though I don't quite think his presentation was really what…Continue

Guns: Both Sides Now (Betty Bowers)

Oh, NO!  The gun debate has gotten so heated that it has Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, TALKING TO HERSELF!  Apparently, one of her has had a stroke or a serious breakdown in cognitive skills, as she does little more than parrot the NRA's…Continue

how dogma pollutes discourse (qualiasoup & theramintrees)

"The Lord is our God; the Lord is One." "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father, but by Me." "There is no god but Allah, and Mohamed is his prophet." Assertions, taught as fact, but without any form of corroborative…Continue

the value of offence | qualiasoup & theramintrees

To me, this is a big deal (though it may not be to them): two great YouTube video producers have joined forces to deliver one very powerful message on an important subject.  TheraminTrees and QualiaSoup (brothers, I believe) have recently released a…Continue

A bit of weather/wind map of the Atlantic

there is no date stamp on it. I wonder what one wears in 75 km, 46 mph winds?

Thank you, all for the congratulations and good wishes.

Thanks for the advice, k.h.ky, but that won't be necessary. My procedure has been postponed till the 19th, due to bronchitis, and the instructions finally arrived by mail. Wow, 30 degrees in 4 hours!

Congrats on your daughter's engagement, Ian.

Ian, I'm glad to hear it! And what wonderful wishes from Joan to his daughter and her fiance... all couples should have that!

Ian, very nice proposal, so romantic. Maybe your daughter's generation will restore some romance into relationships. It seems to me that my generation lost the pizazz of romantic love. Or maybe I have forgotten, it was so many years ago.

I wish them a life of good communication, shared responsibilities, and love, even the passionate kind.

I'm sure that will follow in the next couple of years. Looking forward to it.

That's good news Ian. Maybe you can be in the grandparents club if you're not already. Grandkids are fun.

Just been told by my daughter that she's getting married. They haven't set a date yet but her bloke went down on one knee and produced a ring Saturday evening. How nice!

Our temps dropped almost thirty degrees in about four hours last night. The rain turned into about an inch of snow. It's a chilly 18° out now.
