Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

degrading love — part one (TheraminTrees)

Love is by many considered among the highest of positive emotions.  Yet when love of the type offered by deities is examined, something seems to go seriously wrong.  The love of Yahweh seems less a gift than a demand, not so much beneficence as a…Continue

On the first few songs that I recognize, that guy is excellent at imitating other singers.

Harvest time continues; there will be basil, thyme, sage, garlic and onions to harvest. My house will be a mess with all that drying laying around. I don’t have a drying machine, I prefer washing and then laying herbs on very clean white towels to dry. Then, I’ll put them in bottles that brought me my pills and capsules of medicine.

I hope this day is one of joy and special people for each one of you and your pets, too.

Mindy, I'm just the same as you. Hug for you! I'm glad we're friends!

13 is old - comparable to 75 in people, but some veterans hang on till they're 100. But our cats always die too early. I hope Dale stays with you for a good time.

That story of the two adults - five years ago someone warned us that husband's aunt wasn't doing well; she had Alzheimer's, forgot to eat, and a so called friend was emptying her bank account. She lived 250 Km from here - a long trip by public transport. We got  permission from the court of justice to be her curators/guardians so we could act. Scared away the ´friend´ and moved Aunt to a carehome here. She still doesn't know where she is, but her health is back and she's happy to live among kind people who'll kiss and hug her whenever she wants a kiss. She not quite sure who I am but she loves me. We visit her often, bring her home to see the cats and we do the shopping and the organizing. And her happiness is a big reward!

I don't believe in fate or anything, and it isn't really easy, but it feels all right to do whatever comes your way. I couldn't look in the mirror if I didn't try to help.

This might be a longer answer than you wanted...

I don't know if it's actually true, but I read somewhere once that the average life span of 14 years for cats is tweaked by the fact that so many cats die of non-natural causes like collisions with vehicles or predators. While 14 is the actual average, it's not at all unusual for a cat to live to 19 or 20.

I love them too Randall, but I still wish I didn't live in the brightest spot in the Netherlands...

Chris, I love nighttime photos. Benelux countries with a little England I recognize.

Joan, I always enjoy reading your reminisces. I'm not quite as old as you, but it brings back childhood memories.

Carl, great autumn photos.

Mindy, I'm so glad your daughter surprised you.  Sounds like a wonderful day.  Also like the encouraging news about Dale.

Carl, thanks for the beautiful October forest.  I love forests.

And I really put the lights out!

Have a good trip, Ian! I begin to understand you better now that we've got two adults to take care of. There are good sides but it wears you out.

I'm glad Dale is doing better! I get the feeling he ate something that didn't agree with him - a piece of a toy perhaps? Then you get such a pattern.

Light grey autumn here and still high temperatures. But I feel ready for colder weather.
