Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

I like the sound of Steven Weinberg's voice. He has a calming impact on me as I rush to get my home of 41 years ready to sell and plan and put into motion the new garden at my daughter's home. My home is full o empty boxed quickly filling with the…Continue

I've been getting junk calls too, offering to lower my credit card interest rates; I've gotten many "final notices" in regard to "the financial stimulus".

The "do not call" list worked wonderfully for the first several years.  There was a noticeable end to the many unwanted calls.  But in the past year or two, I've been getting the calls again.  I don't even answer the phone if my caller I.D. indicates the number is a 1-800 number or "unavailable."  And EVERY time, they just hang up when my answering machine kicks in.  They never leave a message, but they keep calling back.  What a pathetic "business model" these people have.

Patricia, it probaly wouldn't work.  I signed up with the US National Do Not Call registry years ago, and that did work for a while, but now all those telemarketing outfits use automatic diallers.  My phone starts ringing at 9 AM sharp...and keeps going till 7PM.

I have to ask myself what damn fool would give a major household repair job to a stranger on the other end of the phone line?  As IF I were contemplating such a thing in the first place.

Patricia, re: Flakebook: I'm with you,  who needs it?  And now I think I'm seeing "Like us on...." in print advertisements!  Arrrgh!

Steph, I love the cute & touching "Friends to cheer you up when you're in your little box of sadness"

I'm thinking seriously of quitting Facebook.  I have the minimum amount of personal into on it, and only have it so I can access a private ex-mormon site.

However, I only find something on that site that I can use about once a month, and there is something that annoys me about once a day, so it doesn't seem worth it.

One big annoyance is some people there gave-up on moronism, just to jump into another religion, or woo.  Ugh!

I am so glad I don't use Facebook. So very glad.

Meant to say, What do you think?

Good morning everybody!  No more messing around with facebook!  I have an interesting predicament.  When I lived in Germany, I dated a lot of girls!  I was only very intimate with two.  I came across one girl that doesn't remember me!!  I have tried to jog this girls memory.  I have given her details about her physical characteristics one of which is having a slight fuzzy face!  This is only noticeable if you are standing next to or in front of her!  I think it is hilarious!  I look at it this way, If she can't remember then maybe she doesn't deserve to remember such a beautiful memory.  What would you do?

Hi, Ruth.  Haven't seen you in a while.  How are you?

Great quote to keep around, Patricia.
