Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

maggie and milly and molly and may (Edward Estlin Cummings & Eric Whitacre)

It's amazing what you discover when you go looking for something you had no idea you'd find.  On an impulse, I pulled up Eric Whitacre's website to see if he had created any new pieces.  It would seem that he has: a song cycle called The City and…Continue

Something Beautiful – Nathan Phelps & Seth Andrews

And it is beautiful, too, indeed, I think some of Seth Andrews' best work.  Interesting point: rather than Seth's dulcet baritone doing the narration, this piece presses Nathan Phelps' deep bass intonation into service, bringing a different flavor…Continue

Tasty sounding recipes Joan.  I've saved them to try.

Steph, I like: "If atheism is a religion, then off is a TV channel."

Steph, Now, that pigeon photo is funny!

Patricia and Spud, most prepared food is far too sweet for me as well. I make my own whipped cream with top grade, very fresh heavy cream, with just a sprinkle of turbinado sugar and a dollop of Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Bean Paste.
The ancient cranberry sauce recipe off the package with ground cranberries, oranges, and about half the sugar works for me. Toss in a handful of chopped roasted walnuts and you have ambrosia.

That's the best response I've heard to that ridiculous religious accusation Steph.

I must admit I was guilty of accusing atheists of that when I was in the brainwashed state.  It's such an incredibly dumb thing to say, on so many levels, that I'm now at a loss to why I was proud of thinking of and saying it.

Many prepared foods are way too sweet for my taste also.  Perhaps I didn't like whipped cream because my mother made it too sweet.  Don't know why I liked Cool Whip.  I may hate it now.  It's probably been 30 years or more since I've tasted it.

Joan I am so happy for your daughter being able to find a way to fix the marriage she was in. Learning is always a good thing. I am glad they were able to leave the dogma of religion. So wonderful to hear your success story.

Well my hair does not look quite like that when it is humid. But that is a bird - I thought it was funny.

I don't like sports either. I find it boring myself. I suppose many would disagree with me. Cool Whip - yummy.

Facebook I see as privacy invasion and lots of worry and loss of time doing more important things. The Nexus is such a better place to spend my time.
