Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Thanks for the idea, Flying Atheist! Not that the pc and I look as old as in the picture... ;-D

Chris, perhaps it's time for an upgrade.

You've outdone yourself, booklover: 131 times the same message in Outlook! I cannot guess why or how. But this pc does more things I don't understand, like starting words in the middle of a sentence with a capital letter - German made perhaps.

Poor Sheldon - one of the small news items was just that: the cat was found dead in the three-seater a month after he disappeared. Probably in a household of people without noses.

That's good to hear, Patricia.

Nice to see the team and the shiny dome, Joan.

That's great news, Patricia.  I'm glad all turned out well and that you now know that you weren't intentionally left out of the loop or ignored.  I'm sure you're breathing a big sigh of relief.

Thanks for the update on the cats house, Lillie. I often fantasize about adding cat ramps to our main floor, with holes punched into wasted wall space for nests. But our house is large enough for two cats, so there's no excuse. I like ramps and stairs covered with material that gives them a secure foothold more than the smooth slippery-looking painted surfaces though.

Some people use carpeting.

But I've seen an open weave matting used too, which seems as if it would give a better purchase. I don't like this method of separated shelves because as cats age they have more difficulty successfully jumping. An elderly cat can fall when trying to jump up on  a chair from the floor. This would be far worse.

As you can tell, I've spent lots of time thinking about making over my house. Perhaps if I become a lonely cat lady in my later years I'll do it.
