Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

I like the sound of Steven Weinberg's voice. He has a calming impact on me as I rush to get my home of 41 years ready to sell and plan and put into motion the new garden at my daughter's home. My home is full o empty boxed quickly filling with the…Continue

Methinks the buybull is more deadly than a grenade.

Good one, Loren.

The Dragon is "Evidence - The Trail Continues" and is made of bottle tops and plastic lids. It's a symbol of the trail people leave behind them, like slugs leave a trail. "Sputnik Returns" is an image of how dangerous it can be to rely too much on technology.

Chris, speaking of old habits........

Comment by Plinius on June 20, 2013 at 12:56am

an old habit - seems they've got a bible quote to defend that sort of behaviour; something about "chastizing with the word..." I remember a man wrapping up his bible and hitting his wife and children with it, praying all the while. I hope they didn't forget to lock him up.

And now for some recent literal bible-thumping:

Sheriff's Office: Woman arrested after using Bible as a weapon (shelbystar.com, May 13)

A Kings Mountain [NC] woman was arrested Saturday and charged with assault inflicting serious injury after beating another woman with a Bible, according to arrest warrants.

[The 57-year-old woman] struck another woman "numerous times about her body with a closed fist and striking her with a Bible about her left arm," the warrant states.

So it's not just ninth-graders, as in the detention notice Matthew Greenberg posted last year:

LMSAO! (The "S" stands for "skinny") You find the neatest stuff, Loren, and very often when I need a laugh.

Do you think that scene was before or after Lot went to bed with his  girls?

And now for something completely different:

So that's where the Sputnik ended! Thanks for the pictures, Ian!

Patricia, you have determination and style -- that license plate for your scooter is perfect (and not just because of the cat)!

And thanks, Ian, for that taste of "Sculpture by the Sea". (Their website has an extensive gallery.)
