Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Steven Weinberg on his anti-theism

I understand the frustration with Facebook, and the way I handle it may or may not work for anyone else. Anyone who sends me one of those sappy stories about god's interventions, I write them and express my dislike for those obviously contrived, foolish stories, such as god kept my oil bottle full, god spared me from the ... whatever. Bull shit. The real fecal matter type of substance. I then tell them I am blocking them. My beloved cousins, my dear fiends, my neighbors, it doesn't matter who sends these cockamamie stories, they get a block. I don't like the "I'll pray for you" nonsense either, or "Trust in the Lord" delusions. I am 77 years old, and I don't want to read and hear any more self-deceptions.
What I do like to read and hear are expressions of care and compassion. Ideas offer alternative suggestions that may or may not help. If I haven't thought of something, and someone else offers the idea, we both benefit.
People can pray or trust in their created illusion all they want, but it didn't seem to help a lot of people in the tsunamis, earthquakes, volcnic eruptions, land slides, floods, tornadoes. It is so simple, "DOES IT WORK?" If yes, good for you, if no, too bad. Think about the threat and do something productive.

Joseph, that has to be very frustrating when your facebook page looks like christian central.  I think I'd go off the deep end if I had to see that constantly.

You should see my facebook page.  Mine looks like christian central and hard right wingers!  The only redeeming quality on my page, is my connection to Dusty Smith's facebook feed (Cult of Dusty).  My wifes' side of the family is whacko!!  One of her cousins has a 7th grade education, 2 kids out of wedlock, eats dog food just so his farts stink!!  He posted a message on facebook, describing how he loved his pastors' sermons on Sunday.  He said,  Ain't god awsum!!  He actually misspelled awesome!!!  I guess he doesn't know how to use a spell checker !!

Lillie, I beg to differ that you can eat only a small piece of silk pie at a time.  :)

French Silk pie is chocolate with the texture of silk, I guess. It is very rich so you can only eat a small piece at the time. At least, it lasts a little longer this way. lol.
