Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

degrading love — part one (TheraminTrees)

Very like Waiting for Godot! I didn't say it because I thought you'd all say the same.

Excellent pic, Melinda!

Loren, I think Godot will show up first.

Excellent, Melinda!

Does it occur to anyone else here as it does to me that waiting for Jebus is rather like Waiting for Godot?

What a lovely day, Joan. Hope you've woken refreshed and ready for a new day.

I'm off to sleep after a lovely day with part of my family present and all held warmly in my thoughts. I am at Laura and Larry's home in the forest of Pend Oreille County, My winter solstice celebration was on Dec. 21 and our big Yule log burn will be on Sat. Dec 28. Very little snow this year, so far.

As I come to the end of my day, thoughts of my virtual friends from many different places, on Atheist Nexus bring me pleasures and gratitude that I have you as trusted participants in this adventure of living.

I dunno, but I have read that a woman can get pregnant just "fooling around" without actual penetration.

They may not have had turkey basters 2000 years ago...not even turkeys till Europeans invaded North America...just Turks.  Heh!  But Egyptian and Greek physicians knew how to use different types of hollow reeds to inject liquids into various bodily orifices.

I have also read speculations that Julius Caesar's "seizures" were caused by hypoglycemia, not epilepsy. He had an Egyptian doctor who traveled with him...after his affair with Cleopatra began....to make him eat the right foods, and drink fruit juice twice a day.  Caesar was not much interested in food, and would work for hours without eating....till he collapsed. The doctor would slip a reed down Caesar's esophagus, and dribble diluted honey or something down the reed till he regained consciousness.

The so-called "ancients" knew a lot more than we give them credit for.  After the Roman Catholic church took over the western world, a great deal of that knowledge was lost, or forbidden as "heathen."

(What IS that bumper sticker that says something about "Once religion ruled the world; it was called 'The Dark Ages.' "  Did I get it right?)

When I'm arguing that Jesus was/is a myth, I often compare him to William Tell.  You'd be surprised at how many people don't know that WT is fictional.  I sometimes toss in Paul Bunyan and Pecos Bill, too....

About Divergent Mary...maybe the Holey Ghost used a turkey baster????

I compared their god to Little Red Ridinghood once. Was a rather nice way to end a ´friendship´.

Sorry to hear about your electricity problem sk8eycat. I'm glad yo got it back on.

Funniest Virgin Mary ever, Flying Atheist. I read recently that 1% of US pregnancies are claimed by the mother to be virgin births.
