Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Goodwill to Few Men (Betty Bowers)

Think Goodwill Industries does well by the poor?  Fact is, they do WAY BETTER for themselves, to the point where America's Best Christian, Betty Bowers, thinks they're ripping off the christian playbook a bit too well!  Have a look for yourself:…Continue

Well, considering all the RFRA bills popping up all over the United States, plus all the fun and games ISIS is bringing to the good folks in Syria and Iraq, Betty Bowers, the epitome of well-dressed christianity, has decided to clarify the true…Continue

Let's not define ourselves or others by our worst behaviors

My take on the recent melt down at Hang With Friends, of which I missed part, is that some of us were tripped up by a habit of thought. It's something we learn growing up, and use without realizing how much pain it can generate -  failing to…Continue

Felaine, sorry to hear about Hairy Jerry! Please accept some hugs for both of you. He certainly couldn't ask for a better human to help him through a difficult end of life.

Hi, Elaine.

I also wanted to express my sadness about Hairy Jerry's health news.  He is very lucky to have such a loving house companion such as you.  He'll be under great care.

It's dinner time here in Chicago, and I have to admit that chopped white meat chicken sounds good to me as well.  --Carl

Thank you all.  I had a fairly accurate idea about that lump on Jerry's neck was before I took him to the vet, and I knew it wasn't good.  I've taken cae of so many cats and dogs over the past 40 years that I can tell whether a lump is a fattty tumor, an abcess, or something malignant just by feeling it, and seeing the animal's reaction.

Right now Jerry is in no pain, wants chopped  chicken white meat ALL the time, and still wants to bonk heads with me, so.....

I'm waiting for the pharmacy to deliver his prednisone, and we'll see how he reacts to that.

It's a risk I take gladly, especially with Hitch for an example.

My computer is running dreadfully slowly, so I leave you with a little sight and sound candy.

Felaine, I am very sorry to learn Hairy Jerry has a thyroid cancer. Hopefully, you will have good books to read while you are gone; not very satisfying to watch distractions on TV. I will be thinking of you.

Announcement: I haven't been around much because my brayne has fallen out.  I was finally able to get Hairy Jerry to the vet yesterday, and she confirmed my uneducated fears...he has thyroid cancer, and palliative care is the only humane way to go.  (The biopsy results aren't back yet, but his condition is obvious, even to me.)

So....I'm getting prednisone mixed with a trans-derm gel for him...you just rub a dab inside the ear, which is a helluva lot better than trying to force a pill down his throat at regular intervals.

But Felaine is NOT a happy camper right now, and I have about 10,000 chores to take care of before I leave for Sue's to house-sit till the 25th or 26th. No computer there, so I'll be raiding her library, watching TV (something I rarely do at home), and worrying.  My JW sister takes care of the cats when I'm not home.

I'll pop back in here to wave bye-bye before I leave on sunday.

I love Grumpy Cat!

He is so adorable.

He is all over the Internet too.
