Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

appropriating morality (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Joan Denoo May 1. 7 Replies

We've all heard the claim: "Human morality comes from god."  And we've all seen for ourselves what Yahweh's "morality" looks like, from condemnations of homosexuality and the treatment of women as chattel to inexplicable sanctions against the eating…Continue

The following showed up in my YouTube feed this morning, and I decided to have a look.  Turns out, the New York Times has given us a reasonably even-handed look at a good friend of ours, being one Jerry DeWitt, former bible-thumper and now a pretty…Continue

So, this morning, I was at my local coffee shop as I am most weekdays between bus runs. I do the editing on my husband's books so I had my laptop with me. My wallpaper is a picture I found online sometime back of a double helix with the word atheist…Continue

The Fake Christian Busybody Show (Andrew Bradley)

It's good to be back!  But I really don't like this MacBook...starting with the size of the keys, and the total lack of a calculator-type keypad.

Anyroad, I don't remember if I posted this link before my Dell crashed...the "Windows Waltz"

Sk8eycat - We missed your razor-sharp wit and wisdom. Great to have you back.

You're not really lonely when we all think of you, Sk8eycat! Don't forget it!

Felaine, I know what you mean about not having access to mail. I am addicted to Atheist Nexus and my friends here. I am surprised you had your Mac Book in reserve. I love mine and find it does so much and with few crashes. Whatever is the problem, I hope you get it fixed quickly. Also hope your friend doesn't charge you a lot.

Chris, your selfie of you and your aunt is so sweet. I like the look and feel of caring for others. It just makes me feel good.

It is cold this morning, so I will stay inside until it warms up a bit and then take my lunch outside and do some more winterizing. Cary gathered pine needles for me this morning that I use around the roses.
Did I tell you, I am spreading last year's composts and making room for this year's abundant supply. My back and legs and arms hurt. I take the tasks slowly, stopping often for a coffee or water break and even sneak in a nap or two or three.

We had rain yesterday, however, I was able to fill the wheelbarrow three times and scatter that lovely black gold into the boxes.

Randy, I have been writing a lot. Having the cold mornings, I stay inside longer. My computer keeps dropping the signal when outside, so I think up topics on which I want to write and then come inside with a head full of words to capture. I even call myself a writer, even though I have not published anything. Yet.

PS: I think it was Anne Nicol Gaylor (Annie Laurie's mother, and co-founder of FFRF) who came up with "Nothing fails like prayer."  (I sometimes run it all together, and use it as a password...on very few web sites!)

Oh! It worked!  My Dell crashed BIG time 2 weeks ago, and Bill still can't get the hard drive to boot up.  So I've been struggling with the Mac Book' can't remember any of my passwords, plus no e-mail....just internet.

I've been so lonely, frustrated, and totally freaked out.

Mostly, I've missed you all.  Terribly!

I'm waiting to hear from Bill ("my" tech)...he has the Dell hard drive at his place, but he's going through worse sh*t than I am; his mother had heart surgery this past week, and HE has dialysis every Mon-Wed-Fri....

I just wanted to let you know I'm still here,, and I've missed you all so very much!

Love, Felaine

Regarding cruising the Danube. I called the cruise people (YMT) for details and found out single passengers like myself have to pay an additional $1500! They don't do "bunkmates", saying 2 weeks spent with someone you don't know and eventually will learn to despise is too risky to chance.

However(!), when I told my sister that, she said "I'll go"! We get along great, so here's crossing my fingers she'll follow up. She's notorious for changing her mind on things. I may have to send out an "all call" for one of you nice people to join me!

Hope you all noticed Daniel (Sentient) is back! Read his blog. Now it's confirmed--I plan on cruising the Danube next year!

Get better soon Deidre! I feel all right but I look like a dalmatian dog - the spots are red. Allergy, they say at the medical centre, but nobody knows what sort. I'm still lucky, it doesn't itch.
