Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

degrading love — part two (TheraminTrees)

TheraminTrees set up religion with his left in Part One of his treatise on how religion demeans and degrades the value of love.  Here in Part Two, he brings in a devastating, "Mike Tyson" right, which negates and invalidates any claim that either…Continue

sk8eycat , you can be charged for assault by hitting a person. Try a "Hitch-slap" instead.

Yes Flying Atheist - I have been busy here - I am getting back here as often as I can. I enjoy reading all the posts and seeing how everyone is doing and looking at the cute pictures. Well the weekend is almost here.

Thank god for storms that kill, destroy, devastate, annihilate, make room for wealthy to buy up property for pennies on the dollar. Oh yes, there is much for which to thank god.

Patricia, thank you for posting that.  My first reaction was, "How tacky!"  Then I thought, "Thank 'god' for WHAT?"

It reminded me of something I saw while channel-surfing years ago: Jan Crouch was talking about a missionary trip they had recently made to Haiti, and how grateful all the homeless, hungry children they met were when they gave them some little plastic white baby dolls. (They showed slides of the event, and those children were so undernourished they were completely apathetic..)  I wanted to slap that woman, and I've never hit anybody in my life.  Ever.

Joan, I'm glad to hear you have very little pain now. Horray! Nice pic of your granddaughter.

Mindy, yes, Laurie is a lovely young woman, just coming into adulthood. She has a tender heart and great courage as well. She takes on tough jobs and does them well.

Tony, and thank you for the lovely sentiment and thinking of me in those terms.

Patricia, love the egg carton.

Ian, thank you. Glad to be reading your posts again. I miss you when you are away.

Mindy, your chili bean dip sounds wonderful. I love anything with Mexican flavors.  Also, great photo of BIG dog and tiny kitten.

Tony, what a great story, and I especially love the Lion gaining his courage! L. Frank Baum left us hope and courage, coming out of the Great Depression. Bert Lahr, what a man, so many talents, able to look at reality and make us smile, and wiser.

One of my favorites of all time. For you all, of course, but mostly  for Joan.
