Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Oh, I forgot, I grind in a coffee grinder-turned spice grinder:

1/4 t per cup of stock, ground fennel or flax seeds.

Mindy, this may not work for you, but what I find helpful through this period is to make a nice rich vegetable stock, I make about 4 or 5 quarts at a time and freeze them. For the stock, I use

2 cups diced onion,

1 cup diced carrots,

1 cup diced celery,

a couple of sprigs of thyme from the garden,

and about a dozen parsley stems, not leaves, from the garden,

6 peppercorns,

2 bay leaves.

These go into a stock pot and add just enough cold water to cover. I don't put any salt in the stock.

Bring to a very slow simmer for 2 hours.

Strain the solids from the stock and pour into quart jars.

I use one of the Corning Ware-like covered cups and microwave one recipe of soup with 1/4 teaspoon Tumeric, about 1/8 teaspoon Real Salt (the kind with natural minerals) and a little freshly ground pepper ... not much.

The first couple of days, I microwaved only veg stock, then added a small amount of rice, maybe a tablespoonful, and microwaved it. then I started adding just a few carrot slivers. I kept adding things each time until today, I had one fresh asparagus spear, one small head of brussel sprout leaves, one of those little bok choy heads, some slivered carrots, a wee bit of onion cut into tiny bits. After microwaves the soup cup for 5 minutes. I top each cup with a handful of fresh parsley from the garden.

This strategy seems to be working for me. I offer it as my solution to my lack of appetite and not wanting to eat. I am still advised not to eat fresh vegetables, at least until my digestive system behaves itself.

I have little snacks through the day. Greek yogurt with sourdough bread, a daily choice of avocado, unsweetened apple sauce, a banana, a blueberry muffin.

I also make a nut treat which includes raw, unsalted walnuts, pecans, and cashews that I dry roast in the oven at 150 degrees F for a couple of hours. This makes the most delicious bit of crunch, either on my muffin and bread or in my soups.

I can't eat my beloved Dave's Killer bread ... too many seeds.

Today is really the first day I enjoy my meals. This old Conquer Cancer Train is chugging right along. Your train is different than mine, but there may be some commonalities in our raunchy stomachs and digestive systems. Bon appetite.

sk8eycat, the drama cat video was mildly amusing, but disturbing too. Just imagining such self-inflicted suffering in cats is uncomfortable for me.

You don't have to belong to Flakebook to see & hear this video...it's cool.

PS: I'm okay, but I still rarely feel like eating anything...I think I'm going to stir fry some veg later.  I have a kit with everything I need, plus I bought some extra bell pepers and snow peas...my faves!  We'll see how it turns out.
