Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Hello Friends,I was ruminating a bit today on my sixty-some years existence. My mind went back to teenage years when I first figured out religion is not only obnoxiously loud, but also nothing I wanted anything to do with. Truly. I knew by age 15…Continue

sk8eycat, I had a badly infected tooth they were going to pull and the pain killer did not work.  They gave me two weeks of antibiotic and then pulled the tooth.  Didn't feel a thing.

Happy Birthday, Shauna.  Beautiful girl.  Beautiful name.

Thank you all for your kind posts and suggestions.  I'm using cold packs right now to keep the swelling down, and they also relieve the pain a bit.  I was told not to eat or drink anything warm or hot (like tea) for 24 hours, but I can have frozen yogurt and or ICE CREAM!  YAYYYY!

I just don't understand why the anaesthetic didn't work at all.  It never did make any part of my mouth or face very numb...I'm thinking of Bill Cosby's old routine about trying to talk after having a shot of the stuff. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIq4OkCT_a8 (starting at about 2:22)  I used to get like that, but not today.

Yes, Ruth, the tooth was broken and disgustingly infected.  Does that cancel the pain-killer?  If I ever need to have that done again, I think I'll go to an oral surgeon and have pentothal!

Oh, well.  It's over.  I'll shut up about it.

Patricia, a friend of mine is in a similar situation, only she's the (atheist) mother, and it's her daughter who has been/is so hateful...  actually, abusive.  It's taken her several years to bring herself to break off communication because there's a little grandson that she's never met.  She's seen a few photos taken when he was a newborn, and that was it.

I don't know what the daughter's problem is, maybe she thinks atheism is contagious, and she's afraid her son will catch it, or what.

But, you do have company, if that's any comfort.

What did he die of, might I ask?

50 is too young. That's how old my dad was when he died from a massive heart attack. :(

Here is spritely bit of sunshine with a great attitude, especially in this era. Wearing Nothing New: Jessi Arrington

It looks like she has fun and so do her companions.

Sk8eycat, you're not a redhead, so maybe it's another reason such as a tooth infection. Your experience is uber scary. Thanks for the billboard link. It's good to see us getting a message out.

I never liked Laurel and Hardy or the Three Stooges for the same reason, Joan, excepting for the "Who's on first" routine which was relatively nonviolent. I was glad when NCIS toned down the head slapping. The early shows were disturbingly violent in that regard.

Melinda, I like your photo very much; so pretty, sprightly, and fresh. I like seeing your whole face, even as your eyes are stunningly blue.

Felaine, I am very sorry to learn the pain you experienced with that extraction! I have not a clue what will make it feel better; I trust Melinda.
