Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

sk8eycat, since there are no electrical parts to go bad, I bet there would be one tucked away in a second hand shop somewhere.

Loren, I could dance to that music forever...if I still had a body that could do what I want it to.  Oh, well...nothing to stop me from doing choreography in my head.

Thank you!

Patricia, that sounds about right. I understand it rises quickly because of the vinegar, so I will have some fun fooling with it. Wish you could join me for a slice.

Disappointing news from Kentucky: their legislature overrode the governor's veto to pass a "religious freedom can trump civil rights" bill, which says laws and regulations "can't 'substantially' burden someone's 'sincerely held religious belief' unless there is a proven, 'compelling governmental interest' in it" (The Courier-Journal). The bill, which becomes law in three months, could be used to challenge laws in Louisville, Lexington, and other cities that protect LGBT people from discrimination. It could also be used to challenge statewide civil-rights protections for racial minorities and women.

There's plenty of discussion on the bill in both Atheist News: Religious beliefs could trump state law and LGBTQI Nexus: Ky. seeks to legalize LGBT discrimination.

Prognosis is excellent. I'll live to be 100.

I really hope so, Joan!

Well, I am on board the breast cancer train joining the Club of Cousin Cancer survivors. I got the diagnosis two weeks ago after I had a biopsy with positive diagnosis for cancer. I am in the diagnostic phase now. I had my first Breast Oncologist appointment yesterday and I am so incredibly impressed with her. She spent an hour with me telling the kinds of cancers I have, offered options, made recommendations and gave me a book personalized to my particular case. Her staff are just lovely, very efficient and friendly at the same time. We laughed a lot.
Tomorrow is the Chemical Oncology doctor.
April 1 is PEM a radiology test
April 2 is the Radiology Oncology doctor.
April 3 is the Surgeon again.
I am not complaining in the least. If this had happened to my mother or grandmothers, they would not have had the early diagnosis, or treatment options that I and my two cousins had. I am a very interested, curious, observing patient of my own patientry. Kind of like sitting outside my own body and observing what all is going on.
Prognosis is excellent. I'll live to be 100.

I feel great, have a positive attitude

I had great ambitions for my garden this year, and it seems I will be enjoying the garden but as a passive observer.

Spud, I Googled vinegar + yeast bread

effect of vinegar on instant yeast dough

"The highest breads I've ever made have vinegar in them.  My Double Crusty recipe calls for a tsp. of vinegar which somehow gives the yeast a real boost and you can't stop the bread from rising to great heights.  I've made this bread with all white flour and all whole wheat and part of each, and it practically leaps out of the pans.  I've also used it in rolls called Air Buns and they expand like mad."

"One is to increase the acidity of the dough which, within limits, helps gluten development. Another is preparation of ersatz-sourdough bread."
