Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Never let it be said that Mrs. Betty Bowers, America's Best Christian, is anything less than up to date with the state of the art as it comes to the modern household.  However, as a discriminating conservative Christian, Betty would never tolerate…Continue

New Rule: Church and Destroy (Real Time with Bill Maher - HBO)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller Sep 30. 6 Replies

Bill Maher is an atheist [whoa, shock and amazement!].  He is also a dedicated opponent of Donald Trump and anyone who would support the man or his goals ... and that includes ol' Yahweh, himself!  As it turns out, there is a substantial correlation…Continue

concealing abuse (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Sep 23. 3 Replies

We think of institutionalized child abuse and for many of us, the natural reaction is to think of the Catholic Church. Certainly, their guilt is beyond question, even as the headlines of the Boston Globe early in 2002 and the more recent news…Continue

Liberal Redneck - Climate Change the Game (Trae Crowder)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Sep 20. 2 Replies

Trae Crowder isn't just about atheism.  He has a deep and abiding concern about what's going on with this planet's climate and the all-too-probable catastrophe we face from a fundamental change in weather patterns.  That said, Trae is thinking about…Continue

Men who challenge men to stop violence

Many men join in the effort to reduce violence against women and children and other men. He speaks of the need to place responsibility on men instead of focusing on women to stop violence. He offers a breath of fresh air, as do so many of the men on…Continue

Felaine, that's really cool. Great skating and choreography. What a little gem from the past! How wonderful it must for you to see that. Thanks so much for sharing.

That's an impressive performance, Felaine even in its blurry state.

Thanks all for "making my day"! I'm still chuckling.

Nice one, Patricia but I have met some people who make it seem effortless.

Good quote, Patricia.

My 7th Grade English teacher had a permanent sign above the blackboard: "Alright" is NOT all right!  I've never forgotten that, but I see "alright" everywhere now.

About the Cialis and Viagra comm'ls...they make me angry because most insurance plans have no problem with paying doctors prescribe them, but still won't cover contraceptives for women.

I wonder if the religious bigots at Hobby Lobby and other "xian" companies who are fighting against their employees having insured access to birth control have objections to their insurance companies paying for those medications....

Oh, goodness me!!  LOL   Yes, the man was wandering through the desert, not the dessert.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Now that we talk about spelling you give us another wonderful image, FA! The man with the car door wandering through after dinner sweets - plodding in the pudding? Climbing up a chunk of pineapple? I should photoshop images like that!

Comment by The Flying Atheist on June 5, 2014 at 10:03am

Randall, I'm reminded of the joke where a guy is discovered wandering through the dessert carrying a car door.  When asked why he's carrying the door the man replies, "If it gets hot, I can roll down the window."
