Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

Liberal Redneck - Climate Change the Game (Trae Crowder)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner yesterday. 2 Replies

Trae Crowder isn't just about atheism.  He has a deep and abiding concern about what's going on with this planet's climate and the all-too-probable catastrophe we face from a fundamental change in weather patterns.  That said, Trae is thinking about…Continue

concealing abuse (TheraminTrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Loren Miller Sep 3. 2 Replies

We think of institutionalized child abuse and for many of us, the natural reaction is to think of the Catholic Church. Certainly, their guilt is beyond question, even as the headlines of the Boston Globe early in 2002 and the more recent news…Continue

Men who challenge men to stop violence

Started by Joan Denoo. Last reply by Grinning Cat Aug 27. 20 Replies

Many men join in the effort to reduce violence against women and children and other men. He speaks of the need to place responsibility on men instead of focusing on women to stop violence. He offers a breath of fresh air, as do so many of the men on…Continue

Okay, gang ... when is the last time you saw Seth Andrews do an animated video on his YouTube channel?  Seems like donkey's years ago, don't it?  Well, apparently Jeff Sessions and his "religious liberty task force" got Seth's nelly up enough that…Continue

worshipping narcissists (qualiasoup & theramintrees)

Started by Loren Miller. Last reply by Ruth Anthony-Gardner Aug 4. 2 Replies

They're all around us: people who perceive the world as revolving around them and will go to considerable lengths to make it so: narcissists.  Such beings have been with humanity, I suspect, since humanity emerged from the gene pool.  Even worse,…Continue

Oh Mindy, This difficult day, with so many things to confront you all at once, sounds dreadful. Taking time to let down into a heap works to release tensions that build up to a high degree. Such time is necessary and empowering.

I know you have the resources to take on each challenge, one by one, to resolve the problems and find tranquility again. You will take deep breaths, hold your head high, square your shoulders, clinch your fists, dig your feet into the ground and determine to ride the rough waters through to calm.

You have all that it takes to get through this day and flourish.

Carl, your time lapse video gives me shivers from being full of wonder at the sprouting of plants in springtime. Beauty of seeds unfolding into blossoms and the eventual development into more seeds, creating a cycle of life. It is so much more interesting than the story of a magic bringing life into being at the whim of some super power pales in comparison with the evolution of life forms.

And of a different kind of wonder is the cat pictures and the habitat created for their pleasure. What a delightful way to entertain the cats and the owners.

We've all had days like that, Mindy.  I'm glad you feel comfortable enough to talk with us about it.  We're always here and available to listen whether it's good news or bad.

Hang in there!!

We're always here to lend an ear, Mindy. Too many things all at once can give that "meltdown" feeling. Here's to a better tomorrow!

I like the outdoor cat walk the best.

The photo was so many kb that it cut off part of what I wrote...Duncan's "lanai" is a lot longer than it looks from that angle, and he has his own cat door cut into the house wall so that he can come and go as he chooses.  One of the perches gives him a good view of the hummingbird feeder AND the gas grill.

I don't think it would work half so well if my friend's patio wasn't a semi-jungle...she has always been mad for gardening, and some of those hanging plants have been there for more than 30 years...through drought, earthquake(s), everything.

I could not do that, and the two cats we have now are afraid of the outdoors, anyway.

Funny FA!   But personally, I never bitch about the heat, only about the cold.  I so much want to move to a warmer climate.

I like that idea Felaine.
