Come on in, pull up a chair!

Picture yourself spending some time with congenial friends, sharing your lives and pictures from your cell phones." They're curious about that cool game, song, movie, camping trip, art show, or other event that fascinated you. You talk about all kinds of stuff, poetry, styles, personal achievements, relationships, and bad days. You can share your inner child, and laugh together. They sympathetically listen to your feelings about serious topics like politics or climate change, even when they don't agree.

Personal validation comes from paying attention to one another, giving more than you get. Everyone respects you and themselves, despite our amazing range of personal tastes and interests. They'll tell you they don't agree with an idea or behavior without implying you're a bad person or somehow deficient. It's an "I'm OK, You're OK" kind of fellowship, where nobody tries to make himself look better by picking on somebody else.

Nobody here is into mind games. A discussion started with a loaded guilt-throwing question will be deleted.

This group is not intended to compete with other groups on topics they cover but to "fill in the cracks." Whenever a discussion dwells at length on a topic for which there's an existing group, we urge you to provide members a link to that group to continue along their tangent.

A comment is a shout-out, which will get lost in a few days, because the comment wall is just a random stack.

Please start a discussion to share stories, photos, and videos. Replies will pop up in your "latest activity" and a conversation can develop from the feelings and thoughts you contributed. Groups are built on discussions.

concealing abuse (TheraminTrees)

We think of institutionalized child abuse and for many of us, the natural reaction is to think of the Catholic Church. Certainly, their guilt is beyond question, even as the headlines of the Boston Globe early in 2002 and the more recent news…Continue

Men who challenge men to stop violence

Okay, gang ... when is the last time you saw Seth Andrews do an animated video on his YouTube channel?  Seems like donkey's years ago, don't it?  Well, apparently Jeff Sessions and his "religious liberty task force" got Seth's nelly up enough that…Continue

worshipping narcissists (qualiasoup & theramintrees)

They're all around us: people who perceive the world as revolving around them and will go to considerable lengths to make it so: narcissists.  Such beings have been with humanity, I suspect, since humanity emerged from the gene pool.  Even worse,…Continue

DID you?!!!?  We used to have a "place" on the ocean side of the Bay when I was a kid....NOT one of the big expensive houses...just large house trailer in a trailer park. (Now you know...I'm Trailer Trash!)  But I loved the whole Bay. Spent my summers exploring the place by bike, boat.  We sold it before I was old enough to drive (by a few months), or I would have done even more.

Didja have fun?

I saw something today on the Yahoo gossip-page this morning, not about threats, but that people who paid big money in advance are finding that the hotels are NOT as classy (or up to average North American standards) as advertised.  That's my idea of "bad," anyway....finding I've paid a year's salary to spend 2 weeks in a dump.

Running around like mad, still working on brother-in-law's problems, doing my own jobs and chores etc.etc. From today my days are three hours longer; I hired a cat-nanny who visits b-i-l's scaredy cat every day, so the cat can stay in her own house and I save the three hours a cat visit costs me. The nanny comes not too soon, I really need to get my own life back!

Oh!  Groundhog Day....I forgot.  Feels like winter has just begun where I am, Clear, cold, and windy ...57 deg. right now.  Not impressive compared to the ice storms than have been blowing through the rest of the country, but it's enough for me at the moment, and we need rain!

@Idaho - S'funny. Lyle did NOT say his name much.  When I first got him I thought about naming him after Percival Lowell, because he was a reddish orange color.  And when I had him neutered I figured he'd never develop a deep tomcat voice, so I changed it to Lyle.  BUT it turned out he could say "Lowell."  A LOT!  But I still liked the name Lyle for him, so it stuck.

I had read about a fictional cat named "Lyle" in a children's book about a pet boarding place called "Howla-Day Inn." (Or something like that.) That's also the title of the book.

Happy Punxsutawney Phil day y'all.

Fun fact:  During Prohibition, Punxsutawney Phil threatened that, if he was not allowed to drink, there would be 60 weeks of winter.

Felaine, did Lyle say his name much?
