I didn't see that 60 minutes episode, but I've always thought extreme exercise will hurt the bod more than help, and cause problems when they become seniors.  I think that includes training for the Olympics.

Did you see the 60 Minutes episode about extreme training? (I forget the actual name.) These health nuts nearly kill themselves with their power exercises, competing for the fittest of them all. I'm into keeping in shape, but this is ridiculous. I think I'll stick with my usual methods.

Dr. Oz responded to his critics Apr. 23 on his show. I didn't watch it, however, because I can hardly stand the man. Or/and I should say, I can hardly UNDERstand the man. He speaks so fast.

Columbia’s medical school urged to fire Dr. Oz

Ten physicians have jointly asked Columbia's College of Physicians and Surgeons to remove Methmet Oz, M.D. from the faculty because of his unethical conduct as host of "The Dr. Oz Show." The letter, sent to Dean of the Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine, states:

Dr. Oz has repeatedly shown disdain for science and for evidence-based medicine, as well as baseless and relentless opposition to the genetic engineering of food crops. Worst of all, he has manifested an egregious lack of integrity by promoting quack treatments and cures in the interest of personal financial gain. Thus, Dr. Oz is guilty of either outrageous conflicts of interest or flawed judgments about what constitutes appropriate medical treatments, or both. Whatever the nature of his pathology, members of the public are being misled and endangered, which makes Dr. Oz's presence on the faculty of a prestigious medical institution unacceptable.

Spud, good idea to either bike or walk. 4 miles round trip isn't too bad. I walk up to 10 miles some days--not all at once, however. As the ad says, "just do it".

Yep.  I read as many comments as my eyes could handle, and I saw that "song."  Somebody else suggested writing lyrics to "Ring Around a Rosy," too.  I snickered.

Yeah...."Typhoid Tillis."

I read somewhere else about Sen. Tillis's "optional hygiene" proposal (as long as it's disclosed on a sign) -- it sounds like something out of The Onion! Unfortunately it's real; real stupidity.

G2Geek had this comment at Daily Kos:

...to the tune of Yankee Doodle:

Thomas Tillis went to town, riding on a pony
When he shat, he used his hat,
and said "germs are baloney!"

Daily Kos: Sen. Thom Tillis says restaurant employees shouldn't be required to wash their hands after using the terlet:  GROSS!

Randy, congratulations on walking 2001 miles besides normal walking.  That would be 5.48 miles/day.

I haven't walked for several years now, but should start again this week, because I'm getting a laptop today, and will take it to the library to access the internet instead of paying the rip-off Internet Service Providers $50/month or more.

I will probably ride my recumbent trike to the library most of the time instead of walking the 3.9 miles round trip.  When riding the trike, I will probably often go other places while I'm at it, like down to the river to watch the ducks, or go shopping.

From today's Jesus God News:

Members of the Vaccination Truth Conference, which works to preserve some of the world's rarest diseases, voted to change their name to Bug Chasers.

"The vote took slightly longer than expected, due to an outbreak of leprosy hindering an accurate count of hands."
