Yes, I know, there have been plenty of tributes to the Hitch. Considering the impact that he had on the world and on atheism, one more can't hurt.Besides ... things like this keep Hitchens alive for…Continue

I think I will miss you most of all. Good bye Chris.
Here is a Vanity Fair photo of a personal hero of mine, as he and I share more than atheism: we both have terminal illnesses, his apparently much more serious than mine. In the three-page essay he contributes to the latest issue, he writes on Nietzsche, saying that even in his final illness (of siphilis?) the latter wrote good prose. Hitchens takes issue with a saying attributed to Nietzsche (but possibly borrowed from Goethe) that "what doesn't kill you will make you stronger," which Hitch says is bullshit. I do tend to agree with him about the saying possibly being Goethe's, though like most popular sayings, there are many more godfathers than children to learn from them. Goethe also said: "Against stupidity, even the Angels fight in vain." I might hope that he meant the "angels of our better nature," i.e. us, but I think Goethe was a faithful Catholic.
World Atheist Day is showing up on twitter:
"A parting gift for Christopher #Hitchens World #Atheist Day on his passing in thanks for his work. (RT if you agree, Thx!)"

all comes down to missing data on the cranial disk.
yo...on this issue we have and have had a suitable model: the nordic coutrys which have embraces personal freedoms.
holland for one. we would see a rise in use and death in the first few yrs but it will soon level out to be very small because of experience and education.
another thing that would happen is that organized crime will drop to damn near nothing alowing the police/law enforcment more resourses to go after real crime.
victimless crimes are not crimes...they are expressions of personal freedomes.
like t. jefferson said"...as long as it neither brakes my legs or picks my pockets..."
I fall pretty much on the same side as you. I'd never touch any sort of narcotics ... hell, I don't even drink alcohol ... but outlawing things like pot is insane. Legalize, regulate, and tax the hell out of it, like you said.
Turn it over the the FDA, not the DEA.
