I have more respect for the animal kingdom than people. I would rather hit a human being with my car than a dog. One day I accidentally hit an opossum with my car immediately started bawling and wishing it had been someone's kid instead. Whenever I see dead cats, dogs, squirrels, armadillos, deer, and other critters on the road I close my eyes and imagine dead people instead. When people get hit and/or killed by cars they understand why and what is going on. But animals are just trying to mind their business and get home. They have no idea why they are hurting, what a car is or how to get mad about it.
Is there something wrong with me? Does anyone else feel the same way?

I don't feel that way. I don't want to see anyone get hurt, person or animal. I certainly have a love/hate relationship with the human race, but I don't have any desire to see people get hurt.

People who oppose animal rights often think that a person can only support animals at the expense of human beings. I don't believe that for an instance. But it sounds like you are kind of thinking that way, but only in reverse. You want to see people get hurt instead of animals. Is that correct?

I'm not going to suggest that there is something wrong with you based on this one paragraph you posted, but why substitute one for another? It's best to think that it would be better that no one got hurt.
Good insight. I do not wish pain on anyone ever. I would just rather hit a person with my car than a dog. Well, of course I would rather hit nothing... but if I was in a situation where swerving to avoid an animal would result in hitting a person I would do it. I feel awful for thinking that way but I just can't help it.
Well, I suppose it is best to be honest with yourself and admit it.
People are stupid. Throw rocks at them! :P
Up north in opposite land, my mother-in-law was once driving home and had to stop because of a herd of deer standing in the road. She honked. They wouldn't move. She honked again. The buck came up and kicked out her headlight.

That's Wisconsin.
Hehehehe! He's like: I'll show her!
LMAO! That was one smart buck! He showed her, didn't he?
This story made my day. I slammed on my brakes once for a toad. The person behind me was not pleased.
I've hit an opossom and several birds before in my time, and I just felt awful about it.
Like a year ago hit an opossum and I bawled like a little girl. It literally jumped into my tire.
I ran over a dead dog on the freeway when I was 15. I had to pull over to vomit and cry. That same day a mourning dove flew into my windshield. That was my first day driving.
That was my first day driving.

Oh. My. Gawd.
I have 2 rescued cats and a rescued pit bull. I volunteer at local shelters regularly and I am also a pesco-vegetarian. ^_^
Thank you for your wonderful insight!
