New Orleans has the secular humanist society, and there are humanists that meet up at the UU in Baton Rouge 1 Monday a month, though that crowd tends to run a bit in the older category (old godless people are fun though). In Lafayette, I run a meetup group and we get attendence of 8-12 people per meeting and new people shuffling in and out (calendars can be hard to line up). There are some groups affiliated with the Secular Student Alliance in the university towns in the northern reaches of the state (monroe, shreveport, etc). If anyone else knows of any others, let me know.

Hey, we just started one a few months ago. We meet at Artmosphere every other Thursday and on the weeks that don't have Artmosphere meetups, we usually meet on Saturdays at a coffeeshop or something (more family-friendly environment). and search for Lafayette Atheists on facebook as well, we have a FB group that's semi-active.

Hi, I'm new to atheist nexus and just found this group. Are there any group meetings/forums in Lafayette? It would be nice to be around non religious people for a change.

Nearly all of our presidents have been oldest siblings or only children.

Correction: there's a talk at LSU at 5:00 or so as well.

Darwin Day at the UU church in BR...the only event in Louisiana on that site for Darwin Day:

"The Louisiana chapter of "Americans United for Separation of Church and State" will hold a Forum entitled "Top 10 Myths About Evolution." Featured speaker is Chris Faulk, Ph.D candidate in Biological Services at LSU in Baton Rouge."

I didn't know there was a Louisiana Chapter of Americans United.

If hell doesn't exist, can it still freeze over?

The Baton Rouge UU church also hosts a very active (semi-large from what I understand) Freethinker's night on 1 Monday a's largely separate from the church (only about 1/3 of the people in the group attend the church). I have a feeling people don't know about a lot of these slightly more formal groups that do exist.

Hey everybody, shameless plug for godless meeting in Lafayette, La:

Otherwise: great to find an active group of atheists online!

for all the lafayette area atheists out there, is there any sort of meet-up and if not has anyone attempted one before? a woman was praying out loud at hobby lobby last week, and it would be nice to hang out with people who think that's as ridiculous as i do.
