What are some of your favorite lines in a song?

My first offering:

Wait a minute, mister, I didn't even kiss her.

Donna Summer:  Ohhhhhhhh, love to love you, baby.

Commodores:  Ow, she's a brick house.  She's mighty-mighty, just lettin' it all hang out.

Oh yes! I remember their version. I can't find any recording of them singing Mairzy Doats. I would like to hear them again.

I was probably five years old when the buildup for the war started. So many great singers and groups came into being during those terrible years. The Andrews Sisters kept the spirit active with their renditions to cheer the dark clouds away.

I tried, unsuccessfully to add a recording of the Andrews Sisters singing one of their jumping and jiving songs, Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy .
I'll try for the fourth time:

Try this one on for size.  And while you're at it have a great Thanksgiving and everything that goes along with it.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRLzTG2LJ64

(Lemual Poot)

Hi Ron. It has been a long time since I've seen your comment. Hope you are well and happy.

I second that thought.  I always enjoy Poot's posts.

"He can't even run his own life, I'll be damned if he'll run mine."

"Sunshine" Jonathan Edwards

I just listened to an interview of Jonathan Edwards, and he said "Sunshine" was a war protest song.  I didn't know that.

To me, the line I quoted is a favorite, just because it applies to so many people that are always trying to run our lives, when they're piss-poor at running their own.  A large number of religious people are that way.

"Get your kicks on Route 66" (by numerous artists)

My poor memory only vaguely recalls the TV show, but the version of the song that I like is from a group that are not the best singers.  I like them because I enjoy the comedic movie "RV", and all the stars get together at the end of the movie and sing it:

You walked in, and my life began again,
Just when I'd spent the last piaster I could borrow...

Katy lies ... you can see it in her eyes...

Just something about Steely Dan.  That's about all I can say.
