I just received this from Athist Universe.  It's a good reminder to me to  not become upset with people who celebrate Saturnailia.

Having acknoweleged that I have trouble with people who worship conspicuous consumption and consumerism.

Some of the suff about music and how instuments are made doen't mean much for the listener.

I donno much, but think that musisicians are in a great way linguists, mathemetitions, and ambasidors able to comminicate through...

The language of music.

Dont' mean much,

How to clean a viilin Bow and horsehair.

10 facts about the horsehair on a string player’s bow

Whenever you go to an orchestra concert, you’re hearing and watching a wonderful mix of our current, modern world and the old world. Even though there are modern-made instruments in the string section being played in front of you, the design comes from the peak of violin making dating back 400 years or more.

One aspect of the old world most people don’t think about, however, is that all-important hair used for the bow.

It is stretched into a thin ribbon, applied with rosin (specially processed tree resin), and drawn across the strings to set the strings in vibration.

Here are 10 things you didn't know about all that horsehair on stage at Boettcher Concert Hall:

More above and here.

I didn't get that either.....if it were me, I would have stood there listening, but would have been right near the piano to watch him play, while listening, & dancing in place!!!

Little wonder my packages arrive late!

But seriously, that was marvelous! What a shame not a single person stopped to listen. That speaks volumes in today's society. We don't "pause and smell the flowers" anymore. Whether or not that clip was a set-up, it was still great.

Thanks, Patricia.

I don't like Christmas, or Christmas music much - however Vince Guaraldio Tri - "The Charlie Brown Christmas Songs" are tolerable after the traditional parts are finished. On a record I'd scratch it out until about time 3:00 (minutes) - at about time 15:30 may be one of the best Christmas scores in my opinion.
