My fancy is scientific and political nonfiction. For those who share that interest, here is a list of books that I've enjoyed.

Dr. Tatiana's Sex Advice To All Creation, Olivia Judson
The Case Against Adolescence, Robert Epstein
The God Part of the Brain, Matthew Alper

I want to recommend the book: Peter, Paul, & Mary Magdalene by Bart Ehrman. I got it from Audible and have been listening to it over the past few days. It is a fascinating an revealing book on the real lives of these extremely important figures in early Christian history. Bart Ehrman writes so well and brings complex historical and literary issues into focus.

Be sure to check out my book too about why I realized Christianity cannot possibly be true and why I therefore had no choice but to leave it. :-)

Started reading a new book by Dan Barker, tittle "Godless." It tells of his conversion from a fundamentalist preacher to a leading atheists. It's a very good read, right along side Hitchens, Dawkin's and Harris's books.

The book written by David E. Comings, M.D. titled: Did Man Create God? is an excellent book filled with scientific debunkings of Intelligent Design and Creationist arguments as well as psychology of religion. He compares the spiritual brain with the rational brain, he talks about complexity, evolution, origin of life...it is an amazing resource to add to your arsenal of christian/theistic debunkings.

The website for his book is: www.didmancreatgod.com I had the pleasure of meeting him at this year's Atheist Alliance International Conference. Cheers.

Hi Chris, thanks for mentioning your book. I'll definitely check it out. I have a new book out too. I think it's fantastic to see so many people writing about atheism.

I'm "Doc" and I'm interested in compiling a list of books appropriate for preschoolers and younger children.

Would you please help out buy emailing your selection ideas to Randall.Doc.Fleck@gmail.com or send me your choice right here through our own Nexus email.

Please remember to include the complete Title, Author and (if known) the book Publisher.

Thanks a heep...

So, when will we select a new book for the book club? I mean, we're in September now...

Howdy, bookworms!

I'm new, but I have a question that is coincidentally appropriate. I dig a bunch of authors, but rarely can find out what they believe (or not) by their writings. Specifically, today I'm wondering about one of my faves, John Crowley. Anybody know where he stands with regards to gods, ghosts, or other spiritual matters? From Engine Summer, I get a hint of implicit atheism with overt antitheistic overtones, but his other novels can get pretty far out into paranormal or other spiritual feelings. Any thoughts?

Have anyone here ever read some book written by Machado de Assis?
