Did the studies investigate fear as a cause for the distrust?

I ask that because I think distrust is a rational response to something in the limbic brain.

Hm-mm, I went to the studies and searched on "fear".

They mentioned it several times but not as an important contributor to the distrust.

Studies that ignore emotions as basic as fear, powerlessness and a few more seem incomplete.
