Oh, and hey, Mel.  I'm over to the side a few miles, in the Triangle.

I'm going to have to miss this one, this year.  Family stuff.  Hopefully, it'll be less of a cluster-fuck than Mythicist Milwaukee.  I'm pretty sure they aren't inviting Carl Benjamin to Skepticon.

Is anyone going to Skepticon in November? Perhaps we can meetup there.

OOPPSS I don't know how I joined NC atheists; I have not moved there, Joseph. I must have read a comment that interested me.

Just wanted to pop in and say hello! I'm in central NC, Triad area. Hope y'all are doing well! :)

Yeah, TAM, FAAST, and TFS are pretty active, along with a few other, smaller groups.  We have a local chapter of Sunday Assembly, too.  I do camera work for them.

Sunday Assembly isn't my sort of thing, since I had enough of the whole regular-services thing after 18 years of being forced to go to regular Catholic mass.  But, I think that we need to have things like this for people with families and who like the regular community, and I can help from a technical perspective.  At least the music is better.

The Ethical Humanist Society has a monthly thing, too.

And yeah, meetup.com is a good place to go for this sort of thing.  It's kind of hit and miss for various metro areas, but you could possibly find something.

Ah well, good to know there's still someone here I can roust out of AN hibernation at least.

I've noticed a group in the triangle area that seems fairly active but not close enough for us. I've found a couple of Asheville meetup groups we'll check out, see if we can interest anyone in broadening the choices of activities.

Hickory's a mere 60 miles or so from us so going for ReAsonCon is doable and would be worth a trip. Thanks for mentioning that - I hadn't even heard about it but just checked it out. I'd really like to do this.

I'm glad I wasn't just talking to myself here - thanks for your reply.

Some of us are around and about, yeah, although most of the state-specific groups are a bit slow, as you can tell from the last comment in here.  I'm in Durham, so it's a little far to drive for a get-together.

I'm not sure how active any atheist groups are in Asheville, but there are enough atheists in Hickory to host ReAsonCon: reasonnc.com.  I imagine that it's just a fairly centralized location for the local groups that are based all over the surrounding area.

Hell, it could be a lot of the Asheville atheists, and Hickory just had better facilities, or they could be working together with Triad groups ... or something.  I'm not sure.  I missed the first two, because of random nonsense.

Just wanted to say 'hey' to our NC Atheists - anyone around? Anyone here live in the Black Mountain/Asheville area?

*blink*

Err, are you in North Carolina now, Joan?
