photo Fellowship of Freethought Dallas

This event will take the place of our normally scheduled 3rd weekend children's programming event!

Camp Quest Texas is holding a one-day Minicamp in conjunction with Apostacon 2015 on Saturday, Sept 19 at the DFW Airport Marriott, 8440 Freeport Pkwy, Irving TX. Children ages 7-12 are eligible to attend this event. You do not have to attend Apostacon 2015 in order to send your child to the Minicamp.

To coincide with the Apostacon 2015 break times, check-in for the Minicamp is 8a – 9a, and pickup is 4:30p – 5:30p. Lunch is from noon to 1:30p, the same lunch time as Apostacon 2015.

We will provide nutritious morning and afternoon snacks including milk and water, but your camper should bring a sack lunch unless you are attending Apostacon 2015 and would like to take your camper to lunch with you. Campers who bring sack lunches will eat in the same activity room and will be attended by our volunteer staff.
Minicamp Registration:

The registration fee is $45. We use PayPal as our payment service, but PayPal allows you to pay by major credit card without having a PayPal account. To register, please fill out one form per child here.
https://campquest.wuf... Apostacon Registration:
If you plan to attend Apostacon 2015, that is a separate registration so be sure to register for that here.

Game Night

photo Fellowship of Freethought Dallas

September's Game Night will be held at the home of Joel J. in Richardson. We ask you to bring the games you want to play with fellow freethinkers, a dish to share, and BYOB.

Well supervised kids are welcomed to attend.

There is a cat who lives in the house, note for you with cat allergies.

We also want to remind you that Freethought is not Free. We need donations to pay for the recreation center where we hold our gatherings, to bring awesome speakers, for children programming, among other things. Please donate here: http://fofdallas.org/...

Skeptical Theological Discussion

photo Fellowship of Freethought Dallas

Skeptical Theological Discourse is a religion discussion group that gets together to talk about religion from an interested outsider's standpoint. If you're an ex-apologist seeking to scratch that Bible discussion itch, please join us. If you're a lover of antiquity, please join us. If you're deeply interested in the fundamental workings of religion, please join us. If you are a comic book fan who is dying for another canon so you may argue endlessly about the continuity errors, please join us.

There are a few things to remember about this group:

1) This is not a counter-apologetics group or an anti-theist group. Some aspects of our study may challenge theological orthodoxy or undermine conventional religious claims, but the point is simply to study religions skeptically.

2) This is not a group to proselytize, rather it is a group for skeptics to study mainstream religious scholarship away from apologetic concerns.

3) We seek an open mind when reading our text, and take in the good and the bad when reading it.

4) We respect scholarship and critical thinking. Even if you think Moses was a Martian, recognize there are legitimate scholars and considerations that might push us away from that interpretation of the text.

5) We are cordial and relaxed, but also civil. The point of this group is to have constructive conversations about religion to learn about religion, and better understand the reality that religion exists within.

6) Please recognize this group is not for everybody. If you want to debate against Christian apologetics, there are other groups to do so. If you wish to talk about how you hate god, there are other events where you may do this. If you have unresolved anger about Christianity, we may not be the best group to help. Please feel free to have those discussions elsewhere.
