Joan, the video was an interesting geological explanation. Several years ago I read of a massive ice dam that broke and flooded the Idaho and eastern Washington region.

Re a star’s explosion forming the earth, my well-trained (in skepticism) mind has a question.

If an explosion started the particles moving outwards, where was the large body whose gravitation slowed the particles until they stopped and reversed their direction?

It’s a momentum thing. Particles in motion remain in motion until a force slows them and/or changes their direction.’

The Earth formed about 4.6 billion years ago, probably because of a star explosion. The particles from this explosion began to collapse in on itself as a result of gravity,

I ran across this blog by Neal Rantoul that just blew me away. He reveals amazing images of volcanics of Iceland that seem almost mystical as if designed by a master engineer designer.

SUPERSTITION IN ALL AGES, By Jean Meslier, 1732

XXXVII.—THE WONDERS OF NATURE EXPLAIN THEMSELVES BY NATURAL CAUSES.

"Is there anything more surprising than the logic of so many profound doctors, who, instead of acknowledging the little light they have upon natural agencies, seek outside of nature—that is to say, in imaginary regions—an agent less understood than this nature, of which they can at least form some idea? To say that God is the author of the phenomena that we see, is it not attributing them to an occult cause? What is God? What is a spirit? They are causes of which we have no idea. Sages! study nature and her laws; and when you can from them unravel the action of natural causes, do not go in search of supernatural causes, which, very far from enlightening your ideas, will but entangle them more and more and make it impossible for you to understand yourselves."

While looking for the genealogy of the African connection to Denoo's I ran across this video of Emmit Smith's genealogy. As heartbreaking as it is, the story reveals the strong spirit of a very strong man. Wrenching children from their families in Africa is no different than forced separation today without records of where modern children go or who their parents are.

Bert, not mondo with a cane; able with a cane.

Yeah, Bert. I bought a cane and am practicing waving it.

Thank you, Joan and Donald.

Can I start being a grumpy old man now?
