---Charles Darwin is one of the all-time great scientists. Indeed he is great among greats---like Newton and Einstein, working independently at the highest, most thorough level ahead of his time. His theory is of course all about evolution rather than actual 'origins', although he ponders the point with his thoughts about some suitable "warm little pond" being a possible start to life. No-one before him had even said as much as that about the possible origin of life.

---Ah, seeing that "I’ll be a monkey’s uncle" began as a sarcastic remark made by non-acceptors of Darwinism, it is not surprising that they displayed their further ignorance of the subject by inverting the 'genealogy'.

Its somewhat ironic that darwin is the picture choice for this group since darwin didn't actually make any claims about the origins of anything. Despite what the title of his books seems to suggest.
