We debate origins of the Universe, life, Earth, humans, religion, atheism, using common sense, evolution, cosmology, geology, archaeology, and other sciences, to repel biblical creationism and other religious beliefs.

Yup.  It might still show up in web archives, though.  Hard to be sure.  Anyway, you've done what you can, and anyone who wants to e-mail you can pull the address out of their e-mail notification of you posting the comment.

I'm working on an e-mail in another tab, myself.

Your right. Think I got it off.

Say hello to all of the website scanning spambots for me, man.  Not the best idea, posting your e-mail address like that.  That's the reason that websites like Chariots of Iron list their e-mail address in their podcast but only have a web-form on the Contact page of their site, rather than listing their e-mail address.

It wouldn't be horrible to turn it into a brainstorming session between people on here.  Hell, it would be more on topic than the garbage going on on this wall for the past week or two.

I'd start up a discussion on the subject, so people can pitch in.

I am not sure the best way to ask for help with this but I have to make a reply to relative about why I am an atheist. In my mind I have no problems with the things I understand and know. With my lack of formal education I have a hard time putting it in writing. I am going to post my answer which is poorly written. I also can use help with any of my facts that may be incorrect. Can someone help me re arrange it so that it make sense and maybe help with the fact check. I would so appreciate it.Thanks Tommy

Eric, I can tell you are very smart young fella. As for me I was raised hard and had little education. One thing I did have is being too hard headed to be told I had to take things on faith alone which is the keystone to religion. First off there was no less than 4 so called sons of god running around at the time of Christ. Yes miracles and all. Why is it we only hear of Jesus. Well because 300 years later a Roman emperor believes he had a dream and executed everyone who didn't believe in Jesus. I am sure you have heard that the story of Christ as forced on us by the government as a way to control the people, well this is why. Why does it work after all these years is a simple matter of brainwashing. Everyone around you believes and will tell you that you are evil if you don't. The simple thing to do is to bow to public opinion rather than have your friends and family think less of you. So through the small things that are done and said around you growing up you tend to take the simplest path know matter how incredulous it sounds we will follow that path because it is easier than to question. This Eric is a simple form of brainwashing. When you start to do this to a child from the start of their life it becomes a powerful force that stops you from questioning the unbelievable especially when we want to believe there is something else so badly as we do.

We only have the bible as any form of proof and in my mind this is the most absolute reason not to believe. Religious people tend to pick and choose what they want to see in the bible the truth is it is full of the most evil imaginable. Murder, rape, theft, incest, all things that your god is a big fan of. If I did believe in a super natural being I am sorry but this superior being would not be my choice of someone I would follow.

Then of course I am a big fan of science. We are in the Milky Way Galaxy which a study was just released that says there is most likely in the neighborhood of 100 billion worlds. There are more galaxies than grains of sand on all the beaches in the world. Sorry but you don't have to know much science to understand that to create anything takes power and I just can't buy a being with that much power who thinks letting a nation of little children die of starvation is okay. Eric I don't expect to change peoples mind about religion but I simple would like to see more people sit down and think on their on rather than just buying an imaginary being who has nothing better to do after creating such a spectacular universe than think about how he plans on wiping us out one day.

I have been there, Troy. The part that made me look back on it some was the well wishing for a man that may have lost his marbles. I know crazy people. I've just never seen the point of shift where they fall off the rocker. I apologize if this offends anyone with warm feelings for him. Again, fascinating stuff.

Trust me when I say you wanted no part of it. I fell into the trap and got wrapped in it Friday. It was a circular argument that had nothing to do with Origins, Universe, Life or Humankind. The longer it went on, the more bizzare it turned into leaving the focus completely off this group.

It really is better that it's over. I felt pretty small re reading my posts. Another example of needing to let it go before it gets out of hand.

It seems I have missed some kind of conflict that ended right before I joined. I see someone's comments have been deleted but thoe of yours that remain are quite compelling.

I wish things like this happened where I live. :(

i got some yesterday as well, just repeats of old ones, but i don't see them on the comment wall anywhere.  in fact, his entire presence on AN appears to have been deleted.  thankfully, i might add.

anyone else here going to see Lawrence Krauss in Philly on Wednesday?

I assume he was in the states. In England he would not get help unless he asked for it or committed some criminal offence. He would not ask for help because he did not think anything was wrong with him. Very sad, really. But I can't say I'm sorry he's gone - strong opinions are one thing, but his were something else.

In a related matter, a neighbour of mine was sent down for attempted murder because he thought his wife was a demon. So much for Catholicism then...
