"I can't believe the crap I read on this website..."

From RationalWiki:

Poe's Law was originally formulated by Nathan Poe. The law emerged at the creationism versus evolution forum on the website Christianforums.com. Like most such places, it had seen a large number of creationist parody postings and these parody posts were usually followed by at least one user starting a flame war (a series of angry and offensive personal attacks) thinking it was a real post. Nathan Poe summarized this pattern in his original formulation of the law:

"Without a winking smiley or other blatant display of humor, it is utterly impossible to parody a Creationist in such a way that someone won't mistake for the genuine article."

The law caught on and has since slowly leaked out as an internet meme. Over time it has been reformulated to include more than just creationist parody but rather any parody of fundamentalism, whether religious, secular, or totally bonkers.

I saw a version of the "cockroach church" cartoon that's the group's picture, that strengthens the parallel to humans' Christianity with the caption, "...And lead us not into insecticide, but deliver us from the Big Boot..."

Tennessee Passes "Don't Say Darwin" Bill (Laughing in Disbelief)

"Bill SB 234, otherwise known as ’Don’t Say Darwin’ bill passed late last night and signed into law by Governor Bill Haslam (R). The new law prohibits Charles Darwin’s name from being said, written, or communicated via sign language within state limits. [...]

Not everyone is pleased with the ‘Don’t Say Darwin’ law. The Australian embassy has sent a strongly worded letter to the Governor’s office pointing out that under a strict interpretation of the law speaking the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory, Darwin, is now a felony in Tennessee. Governor Haslam responded that the Australian city could always change its name on its own accord. If the municipality chooses not to do so, then the city will be referred to as Kirk Cameronville."

This seems like satire, but is unfortunately all too real.

"[The imminent] TISA [Trade In Services Agreement] is also even more secret than the notoriously covert CETA, TTIP and TPP deals, with parties unable to release details of negotiations until five years after it has taken effect,"...
