That is absolutely 100% spot on! This reminds me of something the actor Tommy Lee Jones once said about Samuel L. Jackson when the two of them appeared in the play - turned movie - The Sunset Limited. He said one of an actor's greatest abilities that he/she can bring to their craft is knowing how to "read." He described it as having the ability to put all the emotion, believability, and your self into a role to convince the audience that, even though it's acting, it comes across as real. He certainly has it here.
