Politics, Economics, and Religion

Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

What is the purpose of life?

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

We can hope.  It turns out that the pride that Donald feels over all that he's learned about healthcare is a little misplaced.  He seems to think that health insurance should cost $15/month ... somehow.  I can't help but wonder what sort of care that sort of insurance is going to cover, after he strips the subsidies significantly.

I agree ... actually, I think he's overstating the amount.  I think that basic health insurance should be free, something along the lines of Medicare-for-All.  I'm just educated enough on the subject to realize that that's going to cost a whole lot of money from the national budget.

. . . chaos turns upon itself eventually, and that may be the best shot we have.

Hell, he's rewarded mindless loyalty over any sort of competence, since long before the election.  We've seen that he thinks of the cabinet positions as rewards for his sycophants, rather than executive roles meant to accomplish a specific goal.

No reason he shouldn't think of every single other governmental position the same way.  He thinks that the entire government is there to fulfill his every wish, since he won the government.  I bet we get someone similarly appropriate to Rick Perry as Energy Secretary, for Comey's replacement.

There's also this:

Trump with smoking rifle after having shot a dog labeled COMEY: 'It was a hunting dog and I wanted a lap dog...'

Apropos to the suspiciously conveniently-timed firing of Comey:October: candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump standing side by side, with a 'COMEY' bomb coming down on Clinton. November: mushroom cloud where Clinton stood, Trump still there, impassive. December: a plume of smoke where Clinton was, Trump silent and impassive. January: smoke dying down, Trump still there. February, March, April: Trump still there. May: Trump says, 'Oh my gosh, Hillary! Are you OK???'(click to embiggen)

Perfect, GC. Here's another in a similar vein:

And Mr. Pierce of Esquire had some choice words as well.

The Great American Ass-Covering
With James Comey's firing, the entire Justice Department is now hopelessly compromised.

The Rude Pundit weighed in in his charming fashion.

The Dark Timeline Gets Darker: Brief Thoughts on the Comey Firing
. . . The Clinton shit is an obvious cover story. Comey was fired because he's dangerous. He's fired because Trump wants heads to put on the White House fence to threaten others. He can line up Comey's next to the noggins of Sally Yates and Preet Bharara. Trump's letter of dismissal said, in part, "I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation." Jesus, how pathetic to shiv a man while you talk about how awesome you are. How frightening that Trump seems to be discrediting anything that comes out of the FBI against him now that Comey is gone.

And Trump had been ordering Jeff Sessions to find a reason to fire Comey since at least last week. These fuckin' fascists.

5. Not scared yet? We no longer have a functioning Justice Department. We don't have a Congress that will check or balance the president in even the smallest ways. We have a president who doesn't care about anything other than protecting his orange ass and centralizing all power within him and his small cadres of hellspawn and spunk monkeys. And he's gonna appoint someone from that cadre to erase the investigations so he can gallivant on with his awful presidency.

That Jeff Sessions supposedly pushed for it, all things considered, doesn't tend to be a good indicator in itself.
