Politics, Economics, and Religion

Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

What is the purpose of life?

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

Maybe it's "kind of hard," Bertold ... but it ain't impossible.  If we can get Collins and Murkowski working with us, we can let Dolt 45 know that the Senate isn't going to rubber-stamp his BS.

It's kind of hard to oppose a nomination that's a guaranteed shoe-in due to the spinelessness and concern for nothing but their own power of the reigning party. They're definitely going to reign on our parade in this case and there ain't much of anything we can do about it. What's the over/under on the nominee being confirmed?? And even if he weren't confirmed (an astronomically long shot) the Federalist Society has an endless posse of equally execrable freaks from which to choose. The Ds already sat there with their fingers you know where and let them out and out steal a seat. Nothing's going to stop them from ensuring a generation of shit decisions by the court.

Okay, peeps ... the name in question is BRETT KAVANAUGH ... and based on the research, admittedly done on the fly by Rachel Maddow's team, the evidence is clear:

OPPOSE THIS MUTHERFUCKER!!!

Donald Trump telling people, “CROOKED!” “Lock her up!” “SLEAZEBAG!” “Pile of garbage!” “Punch him in the nose!” “Slob!” “Inept!” “He’s not a war hero!” “Tell that sonofabitch ‘You’re fired!’” “LOSER!” “Grab ’em by the P*SSY!” “LIAR!” “Corrupt! Overrated!” “DUMMY!” “Blood coming out of her wherever!” “STUPID!” “Slimeball!” “Clown!” “Dope!” “WEAK!” “CLUELESS!” “Crazy!” “Moron!” “Flunky!” Someone tells Trump, “Man, you SUCK!!” He’s taken aback, and then responds, “Whatever happened to CIVILITY?”

Joan, Yes we have many grim realities. Worrying about what we can't control will destroy our peace.

We need to be aware of the realities and also aware of the actions, and lifestyles we can adopt that opposes (or at least doesn't exacerbate the situation). Action is the antidote to despair. do what you comfortably can and don't let the rest get you down.

Joan, given your list of grim realities, is it possible to live a healthy, full-of-wonder, peaceful life?

It may be inevitable, except that it might not be peaceful.

When you feel helpless or hopeless, check the note you wrote and taped to the door of your fridge. It says religion needs people to feel helpless and hopeless. Think on that and how can you not live a healthy, full-of-wonder, and maybe peaceful life?

How do I know that attitude doesn’t define me as a sociopath? Because my damn empathy keeps coming back.
