Politics, Economics, and Religion

Religion has so many connections to political and economic beliefs, there needs to be a place to identify linkages, problems, goals, options, action plans and evaluation criteria.

What is the purpose of life?

An eternal question, what is the purpose of life?, occupied philosophers’ thoughts throughout history. Stone pictographs reveal even primitive peoples reflected on this query. Each one has the capacity to define his or her personal thinking about politics, economics and religion.

Is it possible to predict what "End Time" Armageddonist envangelical's  think about poloticians?

Aside from being  hypocrites and authoritarian worshippers -  what sort of logic do they have - other than wanting in their religious believe to be raised to 'heaven'  as soon as possible with the return of Christ?

It used to be said, "come hell, or high water."  That saying with climate change may be appropriate and even something armageddonists and end time christians  desire and pray for.

I don't know what the Republican, or Democrat parties are about anymore let alone what Liberal, or Conservative means.  The parties and meanings have changed so much. I have no party affiliation.

It seems to me in a somewhat strict definition that Republicans think that that representatives should  be appointed.

Whereas Democrats think their representatives should be elected.

As it stands Republican and Democrat congresspeople are both beholden to Wall Street contributors.  The way elections and and election contributions are needed to run for Congress both parties are beholen to wealthy contributors.

I consider myself a fiscal conservative and social liberal.  That doesn't mean much anymore either.    With what Naom Chumsky says concission  - the available arguments for example to keep Social Security solven ( in media fly) doesn't meantion raising taxes on rich people.  The media, by that I mean corporate media which is controlled by big conglomerates.

The Democratic Party has been is castrated.

I'd like to see campaign finance reform.  I would have voted for John Mc Cain if the R's didn't line him up with Sarah Palin.

This entire democracy has been corrupted.

The Move to Ammend may help.

I'd like to see state and national elections use  the Ranked Voting Method.  That would provide more oppertunity for third party candidates and may promote better choices and get more citizens involved and out to vote.  As it is the politics in the U.S. is a faint attempt at a duopoly.   Presidential canditates expecially are pre picked by wall street powers.

An obvious second thought: if former Repubs start a Conservative Party, enough former Repubs will quit the Dem Party that it will no longer attract people such as the Clintons.

Tom, those disclaimers on condom vending machines were probably to accommodate various laws against birth control -- such laws, as well as laws restricting abortion access, have no place in a civilized society!

And relating to us being on track towards 11 billion people at the end of the century, and also to risking pregnancy against one partner's wishes, I've said before that if we had been "intelligently designed", then among many other things, each person would be born with a safe, foolproof, painless fertility switch, defaulting to "off", so that (female-male) sex would never lead to making babies unless that was the specific intent of both people.

(OK, only somewhat foolproof, especially in the face of cults and other memeplexes that convince people that their babies will be born into a wonderful world, and/or that it's their duty to be fruitful and multiply and multiply and multiply, and so on...)
